My MSI z97 Gaming 5 motherboard has died and I need to get a replacement.

I don't need any new features, in truth I just want the same motherboard but it seems they are no longer for sale.

If anyone could recommend a motherboard that fits the bill it would be appreciated. The cheaper the better !

Preferably id like it to have a noob "Overlock genie" mode in the bios. On my MSI gaming 5 I had that feature and it allowed me to easily overclock to 4.4 with a single click of a button. I know nothing about overclocking and don't care to learn either, this feature just gave me easy performance boost without having to fiddle and test everything for hours. I'd like to be able to do the same with whatever new motherboard I go with. Manual overclocking does not appeal or interest me.

Cheers

Plenty for sale on Ebay, but not cheap.

You don't say which OS you are running, but if you change the motherboard it will need to be reactivated. This can now allegedly be done on line if it's windows 10

Id rather just get a new motherboard after thinking about it.

What is todays MSI equivalent of the z97 Gaming 5 motherboard ?

The new Socket/Chipset is the KABY LAKE Z270 1151 that support CPUs Like the i5 7600k or i7 7700k , Also you need DDR 4 Memory Kit
Also supports the older Skylake CPUs 6600k /6700k .

1)MSi is not the best mobo maker. ASUS and Gigabyte are better. Just because you had a good experience with MSi doesn't mean they are amazing

2)OC Genies are really sad. Do it yourself. It's not hard to learn and you'll get a more stable result

3)While you can still find Z97 boards out there, used (and sometimes new), the selection is minimal

If you want to buy new and you want to stick with intel wait for Coffee Lake i5/i7 in one month. They will be game changing. Pick up a coffee lake i7, 16GB of DDR4, and a Z370 board.
