Hot hatch recommendations - £20k

Cause I need more than 2 seats. But that was deffo in the list :(
The 2 does look much, much better, but it probably would not be as practical and he did say hot hatch.
i still don't know why.

Is it the perceived dynamic advantage ? Is it the practically. Is it needing to fit a rabbit hutch in the boot ?

My friend at work test drived many including a 3 day test of the M140i and specifically said the 235i was better and had more room for his camping/ sport billy stuff for weekends away.

Anyway like any decision. Crap in = crap out

Again, very useful, thanks. My decision for a hatch over say, a saloon was personal preference. Was there any logic behind this, probably not. You've had the entire thread to make suggestions, you told me to buy an E90 M3 and when this was dismissed as I don't want a 10 year old saloon, haven't really provided much more input

Not sure what to say if you can't see how a 5 door 5 seat hatchback would be no more practical than a 2 door saloon...: /

I didn't say more practical But I don't see a requirement for practicality, if I did I would have said an estate car

Anyway if I made the OP think and he's still sure the 135i is right than surely that's the best outcome ?

Blimey with all this bickering over a BMW just go by the Focus ST and Mountune it ! ;)
Actually just go drive them all and buy the one which stirs you the most, they all good cars, and your the one who has to live with it.

Why would he go and buy another hot hatch? He's bought one now.

Heck in all this turmoil I missed post 91.... fuggly pre face lift white that will loss stacks and won't shift in a few years..lol

Thanks for your constructive comments to the thread, I'll make sure I file them neatly away for future reference

EDIT: Also, you recommended a Focus ST with Mountune, which would have considerably worse depreciation than an M135i so not sure where you are coming from with your comments?

Why is everyone having a go at OP? He bought a car he liked, what's the big deal? It's not like you have to drive it yourself.

It's fairly typical of motors IMO, hence why this was my first post for quite a while. Seems nothing much has changed since I was last here:

OP posts asking for suggestions and to discuss something (it is a discussion forum after all)
Everyone recommends what they have (without reading requirements) and calls OP an idiot for thinking of buying anything other than what they bought. Why would you buy anything else my car is superior to everything else out there
OP buys something
Everyone who said OP was an idiot for thinking about buying something different to what they own continue to call OP an idiot because they didn't follow their precise instructions

Repeat ad nauseum

I don't have a E90, I read all requirements but ignored the need for it to be a hot hatch.

To be honest I'd have found a Ford Focus RS as they hold their value so well

Anyway. Welcome to the paintless BMW club. Pretty clear re reading your post you wanted one but really wanted a facelift to be 100% sure

Your budget was £20k?

Fox thought it was too high for a Focus. I think it's too high for a 1series when compared to what you wanted from a car.

I don't quite understand this - surely a budget can't be 'too high' only 'too low', if you find a car that's suitable for your requirements and well below your budget then surely that is a good thing no?

The point there is if you have say 20k although you can buy a Focus with it you can also buy better cars. Wheras if you had say 10-15k that same model of Focus then becomes one of the better choices.

Shouldn't that say 20k can buy you a second hand 2017 year focus st2 or you can also buy better older cars like a 3 year old BMW m135i or I could get something even better and older then the BMW m135i and buy a 8 year old BMW M3

I say the better car is the one you want....;)
For example 1 month ago I paid 4k for a ford KA for my mother, I could bought her a much better car like a Ford fiesta or ford focus but she wanted the small ford KA
