2014 VOLKSWAGEN SCIROCCO COUPE 3-DR 2.0 TDI R Line BMT

Lovely car. Very nearly bought the exact same model in white to do my commute.

Laughing at the negative comments. My favourite is the one that mentions that the Scirocco hints of "lives with the parents and has spent all his apprentice money on a lease".

I'd love to know how that conclusion was arrived at.

Funnily enough that describes my apprentice perfectly! Lol

Ive got a Scirocco, 2.0GT, in White, bought new in 2011, and love it, only thing ive had go wrong in the 6yrs ive owned it, is the indicator light in the drivers side door mirror, some of the LEDs stopped working, so just had to get a new unit for it, which cost peanuts :p

If you have ever read any of my previous posts u will see my 220 is a stop gap until I decide what I really want.
Don't try and belittle me because I'm driving a 3k car at the minute like I am not worthy of an opinion on certain cars. I could go and get a brand new ST tomorrow if I wanted but I struggle to keep cars 12 months let alone 2-3 years.
If any of you guys really are into cars then you will surely share my hatred of stupid modern diesels tarted up to look like hot hatch performance cars! I mean look at it with its 19 inch wheels and R badges slapped onto a 140bhp diesel.
They should be reserved for the real performance cars like the 310bhp Golf R.

Don't forget the fake exhaust ends the Germans love to stick on their cars now lol

Often a fake plastic exhaust tip, with the real one hidden behind the bumper and looks like the cheapest system they could find. Pretty lame. Even on the Golf R two of the outlets are fake.

are they? I didnt know that - thats really crap if its true

Nope, the inner pipes don't actually go anywhere. Even the "functional" ones are fake really and are part of the bumper. The tip isn't actually attached to the end of the exhaust and floats just in front of it. Leaving a visible gap.

See this example:

Er no the Golf R has 4 exhaust tips connected to a single backbox. The outer two exhausts have electronically controlled valves which open when selected.

Same thing on my S3 (I had a Golf R for 18 months before hand).

I had a Scirocco GT TDi 170 DSG

Great car with great looks.

Limited rear view was the only downside so make sure it has reverse sensors.

Didn't really get on with the DSG with normal driving, unless your giving it the beans (just prefer Manual)

Had zero problems with mine until I stopped using it as I was having free travel with work and it sat on the drive all day, everyday. Things like the fuel cap release started sticking and the battery died.

Would be happy to buy another one.

Look at any Golf R that hasn't been washed in a while and you'll clearly see which 2 pipes don't get much use, 2 will be black, 2 will be silver still :p

Only on the Golf R Estate Mk 7.0 they are not connected , all the other variants are 'connected' , most of the time the R uses 2 pipes , when selecting S or Race all 4 pipes are flowing

Yep, it is quite a well known thing :)

The baffle is further inside. It's just a valve with a motor attached that alters the airflow slightly to make more noise.
What Lustral posted - your video above is the Estate model, says it in the title :p The Hatch uses a flap to close off the inner exhaust when not in race mode.

You bought a diesel with an R badge pretending to be a petrol... take it back to the seller immediately for mis-advertisement and find a proper R/R32

Some of the comments... right-oh.

Owner of a Diesel Scirocco and love it!

Yes some people remain unconvinced - It's a Diesel. I purchased with a sensible head and current needs, rather than with my heart. I accepted that when I bought the car it's no GTI. However, it has more than enough power to overtake and chew through the miles - I could not be happier.

I bet you won't actually get any where near 40mpg :D

Fiesta ST is over 47 combined...yea right, maybe downhill. But yea, the gap is a lot smaller than it was. It's not worth having a diesel unless you do a lot of miles.
