Hi, I stupidly and unfortunately took my motorbike up the road for a quck errand however the mot had expired and no valid insurance although the bike was taxed. I got stopped and details handed over etc.

I have just passed my car driving test literally days ago and provided the officer with a pdf scan as i dont have my provisional licence as i am awaiting my full licence to arrive.

Would this mean that if i get imposed with the 6 points i will be disqualified and have to redo the car test again? Even though the offence was not car based?

Great 1st post  do you expect sympathy? don't.
You only have 1 license, points on your license will affect any vehicles, so yes if you get 6 points you'll probably have to start again.
Andi.

Ouch - do you have a full motorcycle license? If so how long have you had it?

If you're riding on a CBT prepare for a car re-test.

Also as you're likely aware insurance with a no insurance conviction is going to be horrific, often multiples of normal cost. Good luck though and fair play for admitting the error off the bat and not trying to wriggle out of it!

Been lurking the forums fpr a bit after i bought my first pc here recently. I never mentioned wanting sympathy anwhere in my post, merely asking if anyone knows the actual logistics of the situation.

No full motorbike licence as i was planning on getting the test done to allow me to get rid of the bike and buy a car to make it much easier to travel into work.

Any idea how long this takes to process? Havent bought a car yet either so im not sure if i should now.

If you have had your full motorbike license for more than 2 years I think you're okay as I understand it. Otherwise you're screwed.

I thought this might have been the case. I have just got quotes there to check how much more first time insurance would be with this and luckily its not too much more. I imagine it will be a month or more before i hear more about this.

The officer said that normally they would impose the points and fine there and then but he couldnt do so as i still had a provisional licence, even after making him aware that i had just passed the test

People rarely think about the consequences of such acts. It's only when it goes wrong does the cost become apparent and the regret start. Maybe if we thought about this before the act these posts would not exist and you'd not be crapping yourself. Having said that, there for the grace of god will go most if not all people on here who brake motoring law, some daily I'm sure.

No one deserves sympathy for driving ilegaly.
1st post on a computer forum admitting a driving offence - what was expected. No one knows who the op is.
I am a grumpy old man that doesn't want uninsured drivers on the road.
Andi.

He wasn't asking for sympathy though, or even intimated that he was fishing for it? Think you may have jumped the gun a bit on the roasting.

Op, when you get issued with these points, you'll go back to being a provisional licence holder and have to retake your car driving test.

The license counts from when you passed your first full test on something e.g. a Car. I did mine over 2 years ago even though my motorcycle license is just over a year old. I qualify for 12 points instead of the 6 no matter what I ride. ;)

Alas, if you don't have a full bike licence and you've only just passed for a car, you're pretty much up the creek.

Driving without insurance is a minimum of 6 points. You could try and take it to court if and try to plead to retain your licence, but it's in no way guaranteed.

"Took my motorbike up the road for a quick errand" or "have been riding with no license, no mot and no insurance for ages, I just happened to get busted this time".

Hmmmm.
