Random Thread - Philips One Blade

I suppose it would be useful to have in the office for an afternoon shave. But I do like the whole paraphernalia and process and routine of shaving with a DE as it is an amazing shave. However you do need to set aside a good 10 mins. This might plug the gap when I need a quicker shave.

I just find it a pain in the butt.

I'm with Rroff, a hydro 5 and gel and I'm done in about 3 mins.

OneBlade is good but not nearly close enough shave, I need to be clean shaven for work, so week days I wet shave with blade, at weekends/leave i'll use the OneBlade.
If i'm feeling lazy in the morning I'll sometimes use a Braun Series 5 but its closer than the OneBlade but less comfortable than the OneBlade.

Shaving twice a day, now?!

Sometimes. I often shave in the evening before bed so I don't have to do it in the morning (the alarm has a 5 at the start!). And I'm often at meetings/conferences in the afternoon and evening and don't want to look too "rough". Even if I shaved in the morning I have a very pronounced 5 o'clock shadow.

Sometimes it is a pain - but more in the neck, if you get it in your butt, you're shaving the wrong part of your body...

That said, there is something satisfying of a really good shave, that you just cannot get from "quick" solutions.

I can't wait for december to roll around so I can grow my beard again! :D

I have one and as stated previously its good for a quick trim down shave, but nowhere near good enough for a proper 'clean shave' you can only get with a razor really.

I have one of these that I use when travelling, it's a great unit, lasts a long time off one charge and works just like a normal razor just minus the fuss and danger of cutting. It's nowhere near as close as my Braun 9095cc but for £185 less I can overlook that :D

Can chuck my hat in here, had one 6 months love it. Not had to change the head yet even on twice a week shaving. The guards are great as is the battery life. Isn't as close as a traditional razor but no chance of cutting or razor burns so its a win for me

True - but to get a close and irritation free shave with a DE takes time and perfected technique even on a good day - do a rushed job and it just ends up red and blotchy. Find it hard to justify getting out the DE when the Hydro 5 will get almost the same results as the very best DE shave in a lot less time and with a lot less technique.

Just get a set of Wahl clippers and shave every hour :D Takes seconds and would give you nice consistent shadow all day rather that going from clean shaven to 'dishevelled shadow' by brunch :p

I don't go clean shaven but trim from what is a beard to long stubble every few days. I currently use a babyliss Istubble which I feel is on it's last legs so I'm interested in one of these. Does anyone just use one as a beard trimmer?

Just didn't get on with mine. Cut my neck to pieces!

Gave it away to the brother in law so we'll see how he gets on with it. Just don't think it works well with thick stubble.

My neck area is quite sensitive anyway...couldn't shave everyday etc.

But found that I needed to go over each area multiple times which just caused a lot of irritation.
