Violent protests London

Sad the guy is dead - but the Police dont chase you and strong arm you to the ground for no reason. Its never happened to me or anyone I know (plenty of whom are not white middle class). Indeed it only seems to happen to people who are involved in dubious activities. So basically the rioters are smashing stuff up because the Police were working hard to make their neighbourhood a better place. Talk about retarded.

If he was innocent and was doing nothing at all wrong why were the police interested in him in the first place and why did he run?

You always hear the race card these days. Where does all the trouble in London come from? Let me think?

it isn't about doing things perfectly though, it is about basic drills and no this doesn't go out of the window just because shots are being fired and yes I am speaking from experience

I'll not comment on the policing aspect but I can comment that the use of firearms was rather sloppy

ex army?

If you watch the video and clear you mind from this nonsense, you will see clearly that they made so many mistakes in every point of the situation.

If you really cannot then you need to learn something, i understand why you don't want to believe me, go find armed police and ask them about it.

Oh learn-ed army man, please dispense thy sacred knowledge to us mere mortals.

Yup, tbh.. it was simply a comment that the incident was rather sloppy/bad. Problem is online you get people projecting - they play video games etc... so assume anyone else commenting is doing so on that basis.

I think you might find theres a but difference between a shoulder and a police officer though.

You will be trained to use your weapon in far more extreme/stressful situations.

So you a solider will be less likley to panic than a police officer i think

Well I'm not ignoring that they were a bit surprised by his actions - I pointed out a couple of things earlier that were pretty sloppy, aside from that I'm not going to comment much as 1) I'm not a police officer and 2) my post wasn't to say "I'd have done x,y and z" etc...

Main thing was just that it was very sloppy and if you read the news story around it rounds were fired into nearby houses - they could have killed residents.

The other thing that is wrong about these things is the lack of first aid US police provide to people they've shot - this guy was basically dead right away but they didn't know that and they waited 30 mins with him lying there before anyone approached and checked him. Have seen that on these sorts of clips a few times and it bugs me a lot. A British soldier would potentially treat an insurgent better than a us police officer would one of their own citizens.

Both pretty horrendous situations.
I would think a modern soldier with a peacekeeping role would share many similarities to a traffic stop cop.

I dunno I think a police officer gets exposed to a fair amount more violence and or conflict that anyone serving in the armed forces, from first hand experience too. I'd expect them to be able to deal with it better.

Aside from that, isn't this just the same as the mark duggan fiasco? That triggered riots and the police were well within their rights.

Even on the rare occasions where the police do chase someone down mistakenly (Jean Charles de Menzes), they don't then force packets of drugs down the suspect's throat. There are occasions where the police mess up - of course there are. But I don't see how this is one of them.

It's been three days. I am surprised there is no disclosure of how he died, yet.
