Human speed cameras?

How does one crash into a parked car haha. Had somebody do this back where I used to work, his excuse was "well the car wasn't there yesterday" :o

The mind boggles, the place itnhas happened there is enough room for one to fit through. It seems they play chicken and one loses :/ because they are going too fast they can't stop!

The first guy tried to drive off (not sure if his insurance would be void) not sure if the second person hung about either. Both were damaged a lot!

Quite often outside my house there will be two cars facing each other with nobody backing down haha!

Bunch of old jobsworths with nothing better to do.

They can't issue fines anyway as they're not trained operators. Worst you'll get is a slap on the wrist from the police.

Could be trainees being shown how to use the gun. If it was to catch people out there's never 3 people and always a car up ahead to pull you over. I've seen a group of 5 or more guys in my town doing that before and I figured it was a group training or something.

Saw just that again yesterday.. the guy pointed the gun at me for like 1second and that's it... Clearly did not take any measurements or knew how to use it. Just last week I had the same thing on another road two miles down from this. But that time they actually had a uniformed police with them and seemed to know what they're doing. Haven't seen them out and around before.

Heh I've had them wave their arms at me a number of times purely because they "think" I'm speeding because the car sounds like it's going fast in lower gears or when applying mild throttle.

I just wave back, because it's the polite thing to do :p

haha, how dare you have such a loud standard exhaust

The guy yesterday quickly pointed his gun at me as he heard me approach lol.. so I let off the accelerator for pops and crackles ;)

Can't get in trouble for accelerating to the speed limit innit.

Should drift round the corner in a massive cloud of tyre smoke.

As long as you are under the speed limit! ;)

Ribble Valley Police do this.

A bunch of inbred looking old men and a PCSO stood by the road waving a speed gun around. They then post on their Facebook gloating about how 81 drivers will be dealt with regarding speed, phone and seatbelt usage.

I'd love to meet these 81 drivers caught out, becasue every car I saw within a mile was flashing and waving to warn me.

Would love to know what "dealt with" means in this case.

wow, there are many things in the world this is said about, but here goes:

are there really people with nothing better to do than this?

If your fed up with the twonks who speed down your roads, being a threat to the children and the old people with your tin can death machine... what can you do? Yes that's right, you get out into the community with your speed trap gun, you make logs of the sods who are causing issues. Then then pass them on to the police in hopes that they will stop driving through like naascar racers.

Oh you can simply do nothing.

There is a reason why they are out there doing it. Just because you can't see it....

As I get older, definitely more grumpy.
This sounds like potential fun on a boring day when I'm retired. Just where do you buy fake speed guns from?
Think I'll go out of my way to ONLY point it at Audi drivers.

Oooh, just seen that you can buy real ones for not too much from that river in south America. What a cool retirement present

This seems like a recipe for disaster. Surely it's only a matter of time before someone mistakes a speed gun for a real gun and decides that offence is the best form of defence and rams the scrotes?

Mostly a ticking off at the side of the road, or sometimes a letter warning them about excess speed, is about as far as it goes most of the time, since the members of the community issued with a speed gun are not formally certified in its use for genuine enforcement that would stand up in court.

Amuses me to see the negativity this approach to speed enforcement generates mind, its always implemented at the request of members of the community (so a direct response to residents concerns over speeding in a particular area/road) and is extremely cost effective (since it doesn't require any fixed camera installation, and ties up only a very limited amount of police resources for the period of time), plus nobody gets a fine or points so you can't even level the usual tired arguments over police being revenue collectors, just out to make money for the police christmas ball etc.

The speed guns are usually very blocky and square shaped, resembling a hair dryer or camera more than a pistol or rifle, and are wielded by people with hi vis jackets on, standing in a place of safety, and they often put signs out saying 'community speedwatch', its extremely unlikely anyone with half a brain would take it to be a genuine firearm.

Space savers on the back of a GT86/MX5 for drifting at 15mph? :p

To be fair, of course people will whine about why haven't these people got something better to do, but I'm not surprised these people are up in arms and have decided to dust off their hi-vis. I've recently seen plenty of people driving too fast for the conditions, too close to the car ahead, on their phone or with absolutely no care or attention to whats going on ahead. I even had one person pushing their Q2 well beyond what it could do just to keep up with me down a B-road. Numerous people that have gotten it wrong on that road have written their car off, had to be cut free or carried off in a bag.

You don't even need space savers to drift a gt86 around at 15mph, trust me :D

But I think if you get caught drifting on public roads, the punishment is a lot worse than speeding lol

My GT86 readily steps out at the slightest touch of damp on the road or on a roundabout a sharp stab on the go faster peddle and flick on the steering to disturb the rear! :D

Shawrey.
