After some motherboard advice please

technically the K3 is the better board in terms of X370 chipset with will allow SLi if you wish and extra sata ports. Also has one extra VRM over the Gaming 3 which should spread the load and keep heat down along with the extra heatsink - in theory leads to a better stable overclock although B350 Gaming 3 can overclock just as good as X370 chips for the CPU.
The K3 would stand a better chance of getting higher RAM speeds then the Gaming 3 in theory but would have to see that in he real world .

as for board flare- the K3 steel DDR slots are nice along with the LEDs but loses the strong lighting cover the the Gaming 3 has :(

Seems both boards are supported the same with beta bios's by Gigabyte

I think the b350 Gaming 3 is one of the most popular boards and was one of the first to get 3200mhz ram stable on launch compared to every other board and vendor lol
this and a Ryzen 1600 system with a 1070/80 is a nice little rig
 
Thank you for the great response, sounds like the k3 should be the better option. I am planning to run a ryzen 1700 not sure if that makes much of a difference?
