Breaking: breastfeeding woman offended, twitter outraged

This doesn't bother me.... Though sometimes I think a bit more appropriateness could be had. I understand sometimes your baby just needs to be fed but I think it would be more appropriate to go sit on the side instead of walking with your breast out in full public view. But it wouldn't bother me enough to be outraged or vent on twitter.

I have to admit.... The story about the lady breast feeding in a public pool made me feel about uneasy... Only because it can't be hygienic for everyone else. I don't see why the mother didn't get out and do it on the side.

A woman took to twitter to express her "puzzlement" at being asked to cover her breasts whilst feeding her infant (~3 yo) in a museum.

What I find slightly amusing here, is that she was offended essentially by being asked to consider the feelings of other members of the public. Her answer amounted to, "People should understand how upset I feel when being asked to cover up." Is this not a little weird? Being offended by being asked to avoid potentially offending others?

The woman told the BBC she was "stunned into silence" by the request from a female member of staff.

She then took complained to Twitter, who rabbled sufficiently to make the museum apologise. Apologise for causing offence by asking her to think about reducing possible offence to others :p Brilliant.

e: Apparently 1 yo. Reading comprehension fail.

This pretty much sums up the situation today of our little ballerinas constantly offended society. Bwhahahaa! Its hilarious. Stupid woman! Offence is never given only taken...get back to your safe space. I have a good mind to post to twitter saying i'm offended at her being offended at her own offense. I hope the museum apologise to me too!

While I would not perve at a woman engaged in naturally nourishing her infant, pointedly looking in any direction but at her, to ensure everyone that I'm no peeper, we can't deny that some guys would hope to get a glimpse of flesh.

I would. If she is breastfeeding in public then alls fair aint it. I would sit next to her and perve away! Maybe then she will learn the difference between public and private. There is most likely a breastfeeding/babychanging area at the toilets....dear oh dear what a silly, stupid...self-entitled moronic woman.

Well now I am very confused.

Why does a mother feeding their baby bother you so much? And why do you think that's an invitation to perve?

It's not like they just take their top off and sit there naked, they have a little towel thing covering their dignity.

If its in a public space then its not perving at all. In fact i would get her arrested for outraging public decency.

The very fact they try to cover up means they know its an activity that should be done in private and yet they want to do it in a public space hahaa. Theres private places set aside for this kind of thing...as i have already mentioned.

Good luck with that, it's perfectly legal

The "outrage" would only be from you I would assume

  • It’s unlawful for the owners or staff of a business, such as a café, shop or leisure centre, to ask you (and anyone with you) to leave their premises because you are breastfeeding a child.
  • It's unlawful for the owners or staff of a business to refuse to serve you because you are breastfeeding a baby.
  • You're quite within your rights to breastfeed in public open spaces, including parks and high-street benches, and on public transport, including buses and trains. You’re also protected in hospitals, theatres, cinemas and petrol stations.

This too.

If she can breastfeed in public why am I not allowed to take a dump in public? cmon brahs lets be fair here.

Because she's feeding her child? A fed baby = happy baby = less fuss and annoyance for everyone else. Admittedly, at 1 yr old you could give a snack as opposed the boob (but still, she's perfectly in her rights to breastfeed in public), had it been a newborn, or at least a younger baby, they need it to live/survive, and you can't expect a mother to drop her life when something like a museum visit is perfectly easy to do with a child.

Also, how can feeding a child be offensive? I just don't get it. This is one thing Europe does better, no outrage for perfectly natural things.

Nearly all the breastfeeding mothers I've met, all do it with as much discretion as possible - but you know what? Sometimes the boob/nipple will be exposed/on show. So what? If you're a gentleman you avert your eyes. If you're a dick you moan/complain.

The mother did nothing wrong. It's hardly her fault. Offense it's never given, only taken. If you can't handle a baby feeding then get back to your safe space.

It doesnt offend me lol. Maybe she should not take offense at being told to cover up as per the Museum policy? But she feels rules and regulations dont apply to her. Next she will be going into McDonalds and demanding the bacon breakfast butty at 3pm!!! Madness!

You mean those rules and regs that say she is well within her rights to do it

Well she wasnt asked to leave she was only asked to cover up. So why is she taking offense at that? She is allowed to breastfeed where did i say she was not?

It always amazes me at the irony of the rabid anti SJW, who complain about ********** and a generation that is too easily offended who then get offended about something as trivial as a mother breast feeding a child.

She was well within her rights. If the museum policy says she can't do it, the policy is illegal.

I'm afraid rules and regulations don't supersede the law. She's perfectly within her rights to breastfeed in public and she shouldn't have to put up with anyone telling her otherwise. It is offensive when you're doing something that you're allowed to do, and someone tells you that you can't because they think it's wrong. It boggles me just how ill-informed some people on here are, spouting all sorts of nonsense as if they know everything. She shouldn't have even been approached by someone about it, let alone be asked to cover it up. She's providing nutrition for her child. If that's offensive to people, then when you eventually have children, I really feel for them.

And to the people saying they'll have a look to perv, get a life. It's a boob and there's a baby on it. If that gets you off, you really need to take a look at yourself as an individual because you've got problems.

You certainly sounded offended when you stated that you'd attempt to get her arrested for public indecency (which has been shown above to be a ridiculous claim and contrary to her rights).

From your manner of posting it seems that you've got a little overly emotional and flustered about the whole thing.
