So they can literally, with no exaggeration, flop them both out with no attempted covering, and it's everyone else's problem, even if it puts them off dinner.

And you'd fight for their right to behave in this manner, even if they were being blatantly provocative. Because, the law.

Well this fictional scenario has never happened to me in my many years of eating in restaurants, nor is it anything to do with the report the OP refers to.

But yes, they can.

Have you ever watched a woman breastfeeding? It is often a lot more discrete than that and only occasionally does the nipple show it's not exactly pornographic. And you could give them some privacy by not staring. It's stressful enough for mothers to breastfeed let alone with someone gawping.

Aha! So they don't do this, in your experience, despite being legally entitled to.

Hmm, does that not make the point, that there is more than just abiding by the law, at play here?

Why do some women make an attempt to cover up? Why do other women get offended by being asked to cover up?

You tell me why...

No they certainly don't do that, they are feeding their child not indulging in exhibitionism.

They are more than likely a bit self conscious themselves, and they shouldn't have to be.

It's almost as if some people are a little more conservative towards certain things compared to others and perhaps think certain things should be done in private or at least somewhat discretely.

Because everyone is different and feels more or less comfortable with breastfeeding, their body or whatever. It's an incredibly trying time especially for new mothers. The last thing that some of them care about is whether they flash a boob or not.

Some will be more prepared for using a muslin to cover the baby. Some babies may not want to be covered when breastfeeding.

There are many many factors that can influence a mother and their behaviour.

It really isn't as simple as saying oh they should just cover up.

Great. I'll not bother to argue with any of you supermensch in future. Condescending *****.

Irony of discussing personal attacks yet closes post with one...

I think it's time to move this on or close it, you decide guys.

Funny that. I don't use male urinals or male communal changing rooms for the same reason. Lack of privacy for something that should be done behind closed doors.

I find it weird that people are so at ease with it.

And that's completely your choice, but does that mean it's ok to force others not to use them simply because it feels uncomfortable to you?

No it's just that in your own words on this forum you're weird as hell around people and dislike everyone.

Different scenario. I choose not to use public changing rooms, because the fundamental purpose of those areas is something I'm not comfortable with.

Is the fundamental purpose of a restaurant to breastfeed your infant child? A museum?
