just upgraded to an r5 1600 (and why I shouldnt be allowed to touch a pc)

All joking aside though seriously never hit or otherwise G-shock a computer. It's just bad. I know of two computers that went t*ts up due to being kicked by their angry users.

If it behaved properly it wouldn't have been shook. As proven as well it needed a good shake.

Disclaimer this is the first time I have ever shaken my pc in a fit of rage




I had another derp moment earlier.
Just sold my 970s and went to give them a quick test before they are picked up tomorrow. Plugged both of them in switched the pc on and...... Blank screen.... 30 minutes of swapping them round and making sure the sli bridge and pcie connector was properly connected I realised I forgot to plug in my monitor :(

I remember with my current build that I hadn't flipped the PSU switch before closing the case up (The PSU sits receded in the Node 202 and you can't reach the power switch without taking it apart). I think I re-built the entire thing twice before realising my derp. :o

It is ALWAYS the simplest of things which end up taking the most time to resolve.

Done that before on a new build. Put the sparkling goodies together, did a quick prayer, hit the power button and suddenly lost my faith as the PC didn't bounce into life. Many minutes of checking cables and the odd curse, only to remember I hadn't flicked the switch on the PSU. Now it's the first thing I check. :o:D
 
Pc's can be incredibly frustrating to say the least, though as has been said its normally something so simple it never crosses your mind until much later on. Hopefully by then you haven't slung it out the window :p
 
i think I'm gonna cry.

So I moved my gpu rad to the front of the case and had push pull fans attached.

I was wondering why my temps were high triple 120mm rad should be max 50 on a bad day. This was hitting 55-60 after an hour in heaven.

turns out I had one set of fans blowing against the other :(

Turned them around and temps don't even reach 40c now

No damage and it works, no worries.
 
Can't fit push pull in my case but agree. My 360mm rad is epic for ryzen. Fans on perma low gives me about 65c in OCCT linpack AVX at 4.0. Less at 3.9. In games doesn't pass 55.
 
I've been building / upgrading PCs for 20 years and there is no rhyme or reason to when I experience problems. Some things go smoothly, others don't. I've had situations where I've literally had to strip the entire thing down to the bare bones (mobo outside case, different PSU etc) and then found it was a waste of time. That's the most frustrating, starting with simple checks, then getting more and more extreme and then finding out at the end it was all a waste of time and having to fit it all back together again.

It's one of the things that puts me off upgrading actually, I remember when I built my old i5-750 (I think) I had some crappy cooler that physically broke when I was installing it and I was just sat there thinking why am I wasting my time and stress on this compared to buying a pre-built system!
Current i5-3570k setup runs quite hot but again I don't want to repply the heatsink because I know it will end in tears.
