Summer Transfer Window 2017/18 - Rumours & Signings

Breaking on Sky Sports News that Coutinho has said he'd like to leave if a deal can be done amicably. Although that's hardly news, of course he'd want to go if Liverpool let him
"According to sky sources" every1 just makes up there own bs news. Other papers and sites have Barca close to signing pretty much everyone. Some say they have given up signing him. Some say they've offered 90m etc. Even in that sky story they say Barca have had no contact since the 72m was rejected according to the source. No reason to think any deal is closer than it was weeks ago.

Yeah totally agree but normally Sky don't put it on the ticker on the actually news channel under "breaking news" unless it has some substance though, whereas they'll publish any old story on their website.

I definitely think he'll be gone by the end of the window, it's who Liverpool get in to replace him that will be interesting

If the Sky story is true then it only makes me even more confident that he'll stay. Most of the reports coming out of Spain are saying Barca are unwilling to pay over the top to sign him and if he's not going to push for a move then why on earth would Liverpool sell him?

Unless there's something specific wrote into his contract then the actual transfer request doesn't count for a great deal. It's the statement that he's released alongside the transfer request which might prove to be more important. He's done his best to burn all bridges and to make his position untenable. Southampton now are left with the option of cashing in on him or facing an uncertain future - I'm not sure whether he's the type of character that will continue this attitude if he doesn't get his transfer and even if he does knuckle down, will Southampton get a £50m+ offer for him next summer?

VVD knows full well the interest from us is still there and the fact we haven't gone after another CB suggests to me there's something agreed between us.

I expect us to wrap this up shortly now.

It all depends on just how strong Southampton's stance is. I don't believe for a second that they care about us tapping him up - every club, including themselves do it. The issue is that we've picked off their players every single summer and their fans really don't like it. They don't want to sell to us, certainly not without it appearing to be on their terms because their fans will turn on them. We already know VvD chose us over Chelsea and I imagine that if he was willing to join Chelsea it would have been done by now. If this drags on though and Southampton continue to refuse to sell to us, will VvD buckle and accept a move elsewhere?

He wouldn't be the first to be set on a move somewhere only to settle for another club. Owen initially refused to join Newcastle, holding out for a move back to Liverpool but didn't have the balls to push Real to the limit. Same story with Dempsey - he was set on joining us but when it got down to deadline day and we still hadn't upped our offer and Spurs paid the asking price he joined them. I suppose the difference this time is that we're willing to pay for VvD where as we were trying to pick up a bargain with the other 2.

I can see VVD going to Liverpool unless another club come in offering the same/better things.

Mourinho was asked if he's interested in Bale and said the following:

"If he's playing tomorrow, well, no I wouldn't think of that possibility of signing on (Bale)," the United boss said in Macedonia ahead of facing his former club.

"If he is playing tomorrow, it is because he is in the coach's plans and in the club's plans and because he also has that ambition to continue in Real Madrid.

"So I haven't even thought of the possibility of signing him on our team.

"If he's not in the club's plans, if what you are writing right now is true - I am not sure whether it is or not - that the arrival of another player (would) perhaps (mean) Gareth would be on his way out.

"If he is on his way out of Real Madrid, well, I'll try to be waiting for him on the other side and try to fight with other coaches that would also like to have him on his team.

"But I think that if he plays tomorrow, it is probably the best confirmation that they'll keep counting on him during the season."

I'm not sure what to think with regards to any potential interest in Bale. He's a phenomenal player if he stays fit, but that's a big if. Also the fee would likely be ridiculous, given how inflated the transfer market is at the moment and how much they paid for him in the first place. Real Madrid would want a profit on Bale, but I don't see how you can argue that he's improved as a player since going there. If anything he's gone backwards since that brilliant last season at Tottenham.

Bale has made over 30 appearances in all but one season for Madrid. His record is unreal by the way.
Real do play around 60 games per season though. Instead of looking at how many games he played, look at how many he was injured for. According to transfermarkt - he was injured for 29 games last season and 15 the season before last or 209 days in 2 years.

Football show on Sky Sports Main Event at the moment, every night this week at 10pm. Carragher is on at the moment discussing VVD.

I think we'll see either Lemar or Mahrez come in as well, its typical now, Mahrez is desperate to leave and come to arsenal but it seems wenger wants Lemar over him.

I'd love to think we could get Bale, but for the money we'd pay and how injury prone he is, I don't think it will be worth it

Don't think we will get either of them, Leicester will rape us with his fee and so far it only seems that Roma want Mahrez.

Lemar?? Not sure if that will happen as I think Barca are now in for him so again his fee will be silly high.

If Wenger wants him that bad, then just offer what Monaco want and be done with it. But if Barca are in for him then they will just outbid us for him.
