I'm going to be changing my car in November (I'm on Motability) and went to look at the facelifted Octavia vRS (230PS) Estate a few days ago and really liked what I saw. I'm currently in a Seat Leon FR ST, pre 2016/17 facelift (1.4 TFSI with ACT 150PS) which has been great car. The facelift Leon ST is my other car I'm considering. I realise they are both pretty much identical underneath as they are both built on the VAG MQB platform.

I'm keen to keep the current level of equipment I have in my Leon, if I decide to go with the Octavia but also open to advice as to what options people think are a must on the vRS.

The options that bring the Octavia up to my current Leon are:

Variable boot floor (PK3) £150
Heated windscreen (PH5) £300
Heated front seats (PW0) £250
Heated washer nozzles in front (9T1) £50
Electrically heated, adjustable and folding door mirrors - auto dimming (PW4) £175
Front and rear parking sensors (7X2) £350

Is their anything there that you think I'm potentially wasting money on considering I'l only have the car for three years?

I can't help you with the Octavia but thought I would post you some info regarding the Leon to factor into your decision making.
Leon facelift now comes with new trim level "Xcellence Technology". It has leather front heated seats as standard plus the tech and winter packs as standard with the full controllable ambience LED lightning inside etc. Comfort suspension and more subtle styling versus the sportier FR with sports suspension.

Just ordered Leon ST in Mystery Blue with the above trim level. On motability (the downpayment on mota for Leon's right now is untouchable for what is their top of the range Leon!).
However, dealer ordered it on 22/06. Seat STILL have not even told me when it will be built! Dealer is gesstimating a date of 06/12/17 and then it'll need to get hand controls fitted. 6 months wait on a Leon is what I am trying to warn you of and factor into your decision. It's a stupid amount of time for bloody Leon.

Thanks for the info about the Leon. I had a look on the same day day as the Octavia at the new Leon as well and looked at the Xcellence Technology trim but I preferred the overall look of the FR.
If I decide to go with the Leon it would be the FR 1.8 TSI which comes with the 18" Alloys and the Convenience Pack already. Then I'd just add the Winter Pack to gain the Heated Front Seats, Washer Nozzles, Washer Fluid and Headlight Washers.

Thats a crazy lead-time for your order xdcx. My exchange date is early November and the dealer I visited checked build times for me and said it should be on time with little or no delay.

Do Škoda not do the VRS in Laurin & Klement trim any more?
I thought that includes all the 'extras' as standard...

Just had a look and the VRS and Laurin & Klemet are two separate trim levels. Skoda only offer L&K on the Octavia Hatch on Motability for some reason, no doubt due to the deposit cap.

All I will say is that beware of these SEAT salesmen idiots. I was told "it might be as late on as October you get the car" which was a guess and based on no information of current lead/build times from factory. AKA it was a lie. Just like the 06/12 date I have been given, it's plucked out of thin air.
I've spent 2 hours on phone between the motability "specialist" at the dealer and SEAT UK customer services this past week after order going in on 22/06 as I say and neither of them can even give me a build date or lead time on a Leon ST.... So I would 100% question where your dealer is managing to get current lead/build times from to provide you such info... I would personally assume it's coming from the same place the majority of car dealers get their information... out their own backside!
SEAT factory has also been shut for a week and a half now, so if your dealer told you this in past week you know for sure he is a liar :)

Will take this all on board. Thanks for the advice but most importantly I hope you get your situation sorted out ASAP.

Think I'm going to really get an accurate idea of lead-times by the sounds of it if it needs to be built to order.

Any Skoda owners have any advice about the Octavia?

Had a vRS estate for 3 years - couldn't fault it - fantastic car, great family wagon and no issues at all. Would get another one without a 2nd thought.

I didn't have any of these:

Heated windscreen (PH5) £300
Heated front seats (PW0) £250
Heated washer nozzles in front (9T1) £50
Electrically heated, adjustable and folding door mirrors - auto dimming (PW4) £175

Didn't miss them either.

Good to know it's as good as what I thought and have read recently. What if any extras did you have on yours?

I realise a few of the extras I've highlighted are more for convenience than anything else but having them on my current Leon ST has made life a lot easier, especially in winter.

I had standard spec but got mudflaps/rubber boot liner/black pack (grills and door mirrors in black) - think that was it - thrown in as a deal - 35k mileage in 3 years - no issues at all.

Only thing I would say is that there's not even a space saver tire so a puncture on the M74 and it was a pain in the arse. Had to wait about 45 mins to get Skoda assistance out, they then drove me to nearest garage with the wheel, got shafted £100 for a cheap tire and back to car to fit for me. took about 4 hours for a puncture whereas it should be 15 mins for space saver to get me home and I could have got my own tire!

Ouch! That's rough!! Since I'm on Motability I have RAC Assistance included, so if that was to happen I think they'd just get me to the nearest Kwik-Fit and the tyre would be replaced under the scheme. You have got me wondering though if a space saver wheel might be a good idea now.
