Summer Transfer Window 2017/18 - Rumours & Signings

because he has now handed in a transfer request, giving barca a bargaining chip. you willy.

Damn Liverpool going to roll over and sell for lower fee now, forgot that is what usually happens

Day 1 of the season and your reasoning is as sound as ever.

A transfer request doesn't mean anything beyond the player officially telling everyone that he wants to leave and probably triggering/avoiding certain payments the club would have to make. The club don't have to sell him and it doesn't affect the price he will go for.

I mean, I really dislike Liverpool and hope they continue to sell their best players for the foreseeable future but this doesn't really change anything. We knew he wanted to go before this and Liverpool aren't really in that much of a different position to a few days ago. If he stays, the fans might whinge for a few games but like with Suarez, if you are Liverpools star player you can pretty much do what you like and you will still be the messiah.

Cant say that I am all that surprised really, if he hadnt wanted to go to Barca he would have come out ages ago and simply said "I dont want to sign for Barca", but he never said a word which made it abundantly clear to me that he wanted the move. 20 something days left of the transfer window so best just let him go quick now and get hunting on a replacement with the funds before the window shuts.

Meanwhile at White Hart Lane they are busy welcoming their new signings....

nah blud that meant he was humble

As a United fan Id be sad to see Coutinho go, more competition in the league is great and makes it more exciting, this will probably cripple Liverpool if he goes.

Dont know if it will cripple us, we've actually played fine without him at times so we can again. Kind of worried what the knock effect would be to Firmino (who will have seen both his fellow Brazil compatriots leave this summer, no matter how professional someone is , it does help when you have fellow countrymen around you). I frankly would have much rather he had handed in a transfer request earlier in the summer if he wanted to go, than wait until literally the day before the start of the season but there you go. I am never the sort of person who sees much point in having a player on the pitch who wants to be elsewhere, so if it was me, I would just get the sale done asap and start speaking to alternatives.

They should bid for Dembele or ask for Messi or Suarez as a swap deal.

Lets keep things humble, I've heard Napoli are offloading Giaccherini, scored against Bayern in preason and beat them like Liverpool did, around the same size as Coutinho, just Italian, perfect swap out.

I only glance at the SS website, never watch SSN, and usually everything on the main page has come true. The Guardian are now reporting it too and I consider them to be the most reliable along with BBC.
He'll be gone imo, a bid of £100m will do it.
BBC also reporting it now.

Yeah, even the Echo are reporting it now, seems it's legit.

I don't think Barca had come knocking until the past week or so seriously. No one expected the Neymar deal to actually happen and Coutinhos move is entirely contingent on that.

Fans should just respect the players wishes that he wants to leave and not hold him back from bettering himself. Like Van Dijk. :p

Not nice when the bigger boys bully you is it?

100% This.Karma for the way Liverpool went about trying to sign VvD.All the Fans and ex players in the media and twitter saying Saints should bend over and get shafted when a big club comes calling for your star player who is under contract for 5 more years now let see what happens when it's happening to them.

How's Coutinho's defensive side of the game? I hope for Barca's sake that he's not replacing Neymar. Iniesta could never be replaced either but I guess they want him to fill that role at CM?
