** AMD Athlon X4 950 AM4. Budget Friendly CPU **

It's not a "Zen" based core though, it's an "Excavator" based Bristol Ridge. Even at £50 it's still terrible performance/£ compared to a Pentium G4560 if you can get hold of one, or a Ryzen 3 1200

I guess if you wanted a future AM4 CPU or APU it might make sense but I really don't see the point unless your current setup has died and you need something to tide you over.

Aww, if it was Zen based that would've made it very similar to a low end i5 performance. Would've been fantastic for a budget PC.

This has my attention. I have a spare b350 board I was going to drop a r3 1200 in for my daughter until I swap out my 1700 for the 7nm zen. Mainly for word processing and roblox, YouTube etc this should do fine for the price.

You could build a decent upgradable system for not much money with Bristol Ridge. Really like this chip.

The A12 9800 seems decent too.

When do you think these will be around?

at £49 it would fill a Gap for folks until they had enough Reddies or could justify a more expensive purchase

I don't see how they'd be £49, considering it's basically an R3 1200 with an IGP and that chip is still over £100. That's why I don't really get AMD's budget chip pricing.

It's an Athlon branded CPU, there is no IGPU unless I am very much mistaken. The APU will be branded Ax xxxx if they follow their naming scheme from previous gens

Also has no L3 cache. It's a salvage part hence the price

Yeah that was my thought

Would be a mega cheap Entry to AM4 for my 2nd machine

Could offload my Fx8350 & move over to this for a bit then drop in a 1600 down the line
