Hello,

I'm looking at pulling trigger today or tomorrow on some AMD kit.

Fairly set on a Ryzen 7 1700x but I just don't know what board to get with what ram. Been looking at the Asus Prime x370 pro but it looks to have issues and from what I've read RAM is temperamental so hoping for advice or known working setups.

Needs to be 16GB ram preferred in 2x8 so I can add on in future if needed.

Budget is around £600-610 (that's how much a bundle I've seen is on rainforest).

The first 2 builds have the 1700X as stipulated coupled with AM4 approved memory so they will run at 3200MHz at XMP. Plus, unless you plan on running SLI/Crossfire the X370 are not needed - the B350 boards are still excellent clockers and have great features - the ASUS Strix being a new release.

The third build shows the money you could save getting vanilla 1700 - it would still have great clocking potential and save you a lot of money

First - 8 pack 3200Mhz memory

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £637.43
(includes shipping: £10.50)

Second - geIL 3200MHz memory - cheaper.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £603.94
(includes shipping: £10.50)

Third - vanilla Ryzen 1700 coupled with the geIL 3200MHZ - to show how much you could save for virtually same performance if clocking.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £553.94
(includes shipping: £10.50)
