I can't remember when the "not for girls" slogan disappeared, but I do remember seeing "not for boys" on the bars as well.

Military ration packs had/have Yorkie bars in them to replace 'Basra Bars' (chocolate bars that would dry out and resemble blocks of sand). The tag line on the Yorkie bars in these packs were changed to "Not for Civvies"

I said it wasn't particularly more bewildering than offensive as I don't think either apply since he was directing the comment towards himself and I think he's right - most people really don't look good in lycra!
