I know the moto g5 is amongst the best for a budget smartphone at around 150-200 quid.
I think my moto g4 plus has a better camera compared with my lenovo p2.
Doesn't have a compass but o well who needs that?
I think the moto g5 plus is within his budget the phone on the rainforest is around 250 quid.
£230 from cpw.

If you can find a second hand 3/3T for quick delivery then go for that. Otherwise, good shout to the G5 Plus dual SIM model. However looking at the reviews on CPW, some are saying it's the single SIM version, while others are saying dual SIM, so you will probably need to check with the staff.
Another cheaper option is the Wileyfox Swift 2 X, which has next day delivery on the rainforest if you have prime.
