Friend has a new laptop,

its a new Dell two in one, has integrated graphics & a i5 6700U from memory.

he loves old school games & indies, but its the first time he has a laptop that supports steam!

any steam recommendations for him to play?

my thoughts so far
limbo
inside
nightmares
Brothers
Last day of June

Broforce
Pang Adventures (brilliant modern reboot of the arcade classic)
Monochroma
Momodora
Never Alone (Kisima Ingitchuna)
Bionic Commando Rearmed

He could probably get some older games to run on it too. Games like Half Life, F.E.A.R., Deus Ex, System Shock & Pyschonauts still hold up, played them all myself over the last year...

From a quick glance though my steam list I'd recommend the following for anyone with a laptop or older PC :-

Bastion - great twin stick action RPG
The Binding of Isaac
Dust: An Elysian Tale - superb 16-bit style platformer with RPG elements
Duskers - unique CLI retro survival strategy game
FTL - cool little rogue-like space strategy sim
Galak-Z - awesome 2D space shooter
Hotline Miami
Shovel Knight - Platforming at it's finest!
Skulls of the Shogun - Nifty Strategy Game
Sonic Mania - The best Sonic game since the early 90's by all accounts
South Park - The Stick of Truth - If you like retro RPG's and South Park this is fantastic
Undertale - Haven't actually played it yet but by all acounts it's amazing!

This YouTube playlist will give you some idea of what you can do with it.

It really is addictive! One of those games that makes me go ... oh il just do this before i go... ooh il just do this as well. 18 hours later... perfect.. oh wait.

I'd really recommend the Lucasarts games too - The Secret of Monkey Island and it's sequel are two of my favourite games of all time, The Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle, The Indy games, The Dig. Quite a few have been remastered and for those that run poorly via Steam there's always ScummVM.
