Steam: Have you used the permentaly delete Feature?

Hi all,

Just wondered if you guys have used the permanently delete game feature?
i had so many games in my Steam account that i bought in humble bundles or Sales that after playing will never revisit.

i cleared them out as the thumbnails annoyed me distracting my choice of next game to play.

I cleared out around 50 games.
i'm sure some think i'm mad, or crazy thats fine, but one i deleted was Skyrim :p
Why not just create a group, move the games into that group and shrink the group so you don't see them?

I have a Trash category for things I'll never play again.

Didn't know it was an option to permanently delete.

I can see there being a case for it when games are so old they won't even work if I installed them, but I probably wouldn't ever find that out.

Nope just hit the 'hide' button. You never know I may want to revisit them someday. The game has to be pretty awful to even hit the hide button at all.
I enjoy occasionally looking through the list of uninstalled games and thinking I'll retry something. If it's hidden I don't even have to think about it.

How many games do you have though? With Humble making vast amounts of pretty decent games available cheaply it's easy to end up with hundreds of might plays. The stuff that Indiegala gives away for example more often than not just clogs up your list and makes good games harder to spot. Hiding them is fine but personally I'd rather not end up with loads of expandable categories or hidden things.

I just hide the ones I feel like I won't be playing ever. Never see them again unless you go to hidden games. No need to delete.

But I can certainly understand why one would want to get rid or hide. Some games feel like they are bloating your list. It feels like you want to optimise your steam games and get rid of the crap ones you got by mistake :p

I permanently deleted around 100 games i knew i wasn't going to play. Most of the games were cheap impulse purchases. Honestly, it felt great clearing out my library. Now, i'm more selective when buying games.

Also, when you permanently delete a game, you can restore it back to your library by doing the following from the Support Section within the Steam client (Help/Steam Support):

1. Type the name of the game you deleted
2. Select the game once it appears in the search
3. Then select "It's not in my library"
4. Select "Restore the previously removed package to my account"

The game will appear back in your library.

Yes I have as I hate having tat cluttering up my account. They were all freebies from Humble Bundle. I did load all of them and have a quick play through to make doubly sure. But they were still tat.

I only wish Steam would let you move games between accounts. It only needs to be a one-time thing. I have over the 13 years accrued 3 different accounts with games in each. Would be nice to have them all merged into one or all the games moved into one and two accounts closed.

How many games do you have though?
I've got around 600 games and I still love stumbling on games that either I've never played or only played for a few minutes. A quick reinstall and see if they're worth the time and effort and then if not uninstall and hide it.
I do still get bored occassionally playing all the triple A games and just browse.

I certainly wouldn't have deleted anything from steam. If the thumbnails are that irritating just uninstall said games and filter by installed games only .

This is what I do too.

Why would you delete your own property!? (notwithstanding steam subscriber agreements and legal BS etc.)

Don't understand why you would delete any, just set it to show installed only (works in grid mode as well)

Just got idlemaster, off topic but what do the trading cards do? I have maybe 200 steam games mostly junk but have always wondered what the cards are for haha
