Hey guys,
so I've had my PC for quite a few years now, upgrading it now and again, the only component that is still from the original PC is my motherboard.

It's a Gigabyte 78-LMT USB3; Other PC specs include GTX 970 4gb, AMD FX-8320, 16gb ddr3 RAM and 600W Corsair PSU.

I was curious to know what you guys think would be a good upgrade, I thought maybe the mobo as I want to utilize more overclocking speeds from the CPU which I think is currently limited. Also if I wanted to upgrade CPU in the future(probably at some point in the near future), a better more stable motherboard I thought would probably be best. Do you have any specific motherboard recommendations or instead what I should upgrade.

Sorry I'm a bit of a pc noobie, any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks for any help!

all depends on your budget , usage, what monitor you run off. Never used AMD chips before Ryzen and after 2007 so couldnt comment on your current performance .
but you've picked a good time in terms of CPU to jump to that ship with AMD ryzen shaking up the joint and intel rushing Coffeelake to the table :)

off the bat , ryzen 5, b350 board and 16GB DDR4 could be all you need - most will say your 970 is just fine as its the recommend card for most modern games now and should run then at a breeze in 1080p

although looking at it , 1700 would be nice haha

That's great, thanks for the info buddy, I will be sure to check out the videos!
In terms of budget, it's not the biggest at the moment but could stretch to £200 - 250. I have an acer 144hz monitor and primarily use my PC for gaming and video editing so speed and processing power is very important.
Would you say that it would be worth upgrading my cpu and mobo to the new Ryzen and how much do you think it'd cost?

since you mentioned Video editing , Ryzen 7 1700 would be a beast over your current CPU more so then the gaming increase performance

but costs do start to increase, im sure with the ryzen 5 6 core and 12 threads should still see a gain in video editing
