Just bought aorus waterfoce gtx1080ti - possible cracked ?

If you bought it off eBay just open a case in the resolution centre and request a return and refund.

Any decent seller would just refund you and sort RMA themselves.

I know you bought it 2nd hand but from where?

From private custom pc builder and modder. Was on ebay and gumtree but bought direct from him.
Was delivered on tuesday this week.
He got it for a build 6th JULY.

Also bought his Aorus gaming 9 mb off him.

I Bought my last z170 mb+gtx1070 FE from him 8 months ago and paid same way and but for the plastic mb covers being painted different colours to match his other custom build, all was fine.

As you bought it directly from him instead of through Ebay I am begining to get a bad feeling about this. By buying direct you have no options if he refuses to do anything and going by his replies he seems to be a tool. Our Gigabyte rep has confirmed that he needs to deal with the RMA so you will have to hope that he will help you out. I don't suppose you paid by Paypal by any chance?

Looks to me like it has either been dropped or something of that nature. Possibility of overtightened screw.

I'd just test the card itself and see if it leaks. You might be lucky as it doesn't look cracked all the way through.

Family or friend. Yep, as above. Absolutely no chance of getting your money back there.

If worst comes to worse just get a new block or strip it down and seal it with a bit of super glue.

So.
I couldnt do it even if I had the purchase invoice ?

I'm not going to spell this out for you as i'll probably offend some of the resident traffic wardens on the forum, so read carefully, you have a printer yes ? , have access to word or exel yes ? use your imagination.....

I have used my 'imagination' many times after getting screwed on in-warranty hardware , the bottom line is Gigabyte (or whoever) know by the serial number that its still within warranty, if its a genuine defect and not user error then in my mind your not doing anything wrong, if you are asked why you want to send it direct say your having a bad time with the retailer.

Fill it and check for leak.
Strengthen it with silicon
Change the block (phantek is compatible with backplate)
Never buy second hand without the option of return.

Hi,
Thankyou for replying so soon.

So.
I couldnt do it even if I had the purchase invoice ?

He said he bought it directly from you for the his custom aorus build.

Only way you can buy directly from any vendor is by Distributor, and some of then offer a swap on the day they receive if you've got a good account with them .
To be direct from any vendor would be buy recieving a sponsorship . I've hard two pieces from different vendors and you normally have to go through the OR person that supplied you the gear , the serial numbers are logged against reviewers hardware - other guys that have been sponsored can confirm .

As with taking the invoice, Gigabyte reps are the most active on this forum and on the ball dealing with original owners RMA , they'll spot this one a mile off .

As mentioned above if you got this for £600/500 , then buying a Phanteks block is best option .
You can also leak test this as mentioned above with distilled water .

3rdly if all goes pear shaped I might be able to track down my Aorus 1080 11gbps cooler. Shame as the Ti so should bolt on, can use 'for testing- worse case'

Biulder said that he got mb free from gigabyte/Aorus for the Aorus build and bought the gpu from them and then registered it. He sent me the gigabyte Aorus extended registered warranty paperwork with it to show it had a full warranty.
I paid him £627 delivered for gpu. Could bought new for 780 with destiny2 but that just more then can spend on a gpu hence buying this off him.

I think you've lost £627 to be honest. You can save by buying used and by avoiding fees on paypal/ebay, but you lose all consumer protection.

I don't think an RMA/Warranty would help anyway, it looks like it's been used (can see water in it) so I would imagine the suggestion would be that it has been damaged, which wouldn't be covered.

I have same feeling. First step into wc and get this. Gutted.

Still shocked that he knows it arrived like this, yet no full refund offer, only said Its under warranty so just rma it. Then offered to contact gigabyte for me to help with rma claim through him which he said he did late lastnight and expects a reply later today.

Does that material expand with heat, if so its going to get worse. Otherwise it might be fine, its too negative to say its a total loss but you might have to change the water block on it.
AORUS would take the RMA from the original owner, they'd have to refuse it up close after seeing it first hand I think. If you want my guess, barring any other damage its repairable and I dont think they would refuse assuming its been treated right.
