Of course, and this is actually really accurate; plus they have to contend with the realisation that with equality, careers and increases in life stresses in general, the statics show them to now to be as miserable as men....

Although; they do use and heavily comment on social media, groupon, YouTube, MSE, mumsnet/netmus etc

Ah mumsnet / netmus where the woman has an affair gets pregnant from it, gets all the sympathy and the husband is still the bad guy.

Yeah, this.

It's all a bit serious. Even photoshop threads barely get off the ground now.

We're short on crazies struggling to life, I miss that. TIAM used to generate a lot of humour to spread out through GD, but then got hamstrung by adding restrictive rules to throttle all that - damn shame. And lots of the guys who livened it all up got perma'd (Theophany) or otherwise put on-notice (mags) or hounded until they left (lafemmefatale)

The habit of moving active GD threads to backwater subforums takes a lot away from GD. That Oxlade-chamberlain medical thread should have resulted in an almighty rinsing of the OP for such a stupid post, once he posted up his crap reasoning, but instead it just sank in the football forum.
I once had a thread about a news story in which a guy got a boner during an organised naked cycle ride moved to the pedal power forum: ridiculous.

We've also lost a lot of the actual overclocking. Back in the old days it was all about waterchillers and phase change, volt mods etc. Now it's more about selling "elite tier" hardware and making pretty builds.

There's just better places these days than forums to chat about stuff. Which is why lots of the sub forums are dead or dying except a few regulars.

You rarely get any interesting debate on forums, it's just a few people stating their side and never ever are they going to read anything that changes their original view. In over 10 years I don't think I have ever seen that happen.

I think so. As long as you say that those different interests are not due to their sex, but because our current flawed society has dictated that their interests should be different. So we need to force more men to become flower arrangers and women to be IT nerds, so that we can point to our new society and say, "Look at how gender neutral we are now," and everybody can clap their hands and sing hallelujah a non-religious gender neutral celebratory song.

Hmmm this thread actually makes me sad. So much to reflect.

A few years ago feeling like this, I would have come up with some elaborate way to earn a permabanning once faced with the inconceivable reality that the forum is but a shadow of its former self. Now I am, in some vacant left middle right non-offensive equality driven gender nutrality way, too apathetic.

What a complete load of crap.
I was called dmpoole and people started calling me Dimple (firstly as an insult) so in the end I just said change my name and claimed I'd asked for it to be changed loads of times but that was a fib.
A couple of years ago a Mod changed my name to SexyGreyFox for a laugh because of a 'password' thread and I kept it.
I have done no covering up and my sig was always the same for all three names which was usually my bands name so very hard to cover up who I was.
Mods will 100% confirm this.

It would be interesting to know what your name was around 2008 to 2010 since you have definitely covered your tracks.

The finger up the bum you refer to was a day I spent in Histology where I handled body parts, one of which I had no idea what it was but I was told to feel for the cancer lump. I was then told it was a persons rectum so it was probably some initiation joke they do.

Yes I joined OCUK 'Hate Sites' but never spoke ill of OCUK because I've always liked it here. I was even permabanned from here for being on one but it was no secret. I am still a member of a former OCUK 'Hate Site' that for the last 5 years has never mentioned OCUK.

* For those wondering what a OCUK Hate Site' is/was: A lot of members got banned usually for racist views which is ironic since many claim this was a BNP sympathy site. Others got banned for arguing/swearing and a lot of them found themselves on a site made by an ex member. The first site sounded very similar to Overclockers and it was 99% having a go at Overclockers - all very sad. The remnants of the 'Hate Site' also has a lot of members here but on there we swear at each other a lot.
