So the washing machine has died today, I'm considering a washer dryer in its place.

Don't have room for separate appliances

Anyone with experience of washer dryers and if they are as bad as they used to be?

Had to use one for the last two years. Indesit, so nothing great to start with but its utterly dire. Room its in becomes unbearable whilst its drying (pumps out plenty heat and seems to suck the air out of the room), and its drying performance is sub-par at best. Also had a charming habit of shrinking my clothes, even on a 'cold' setting.

I had a washer dryer provided in my new house, however the drying function has never worked.

I would never choose to buy one over a standalone washer :8

got a samsung washer dryer. Drying is actually pretty decent, provided you stick to the guidelines (i.e. don't fill it up, cause the 9L is the washing capacity, drying is 5L).

Used a few in the past and always found them pretty good. Don't expect to completely dry it though as can take a long time, you still need to air for a while afterwards. I used to like putting steaming towels on a clothes drier. I used it mostly for bedding and towels only (heavy fabrics) to save clothes from wearing prematurely.
Like with anything, you get what you pay for. I'd pay upwards of £700 for something decent.
I intended to get a separate dryer when I moved house then found a bit of plumbing needed changing behind the washer because of a leak, and due to that the washer doesn't fit in snuggly so now don't have enough space for a dryer. However, I've found in a modern home, being single I can just air dry anyway (either outside or in) which also saves a few pennies.

BUMP

I to am looking for a washer dryer now...

JL aren't doing 5 years guarantee on white goods now though.

Anywhere that is?
