TVR?

To quote someone from another forum:

The factory it won't be built in hasn't been built yet, next to the race track that isn't going to be built.

And the guy in charge was the co-founder of Bullfrog Productions (with Peter Molyneux), the company that eventually made Populous - so he'll be well used to publicising something that never happens.

I'm inclined to agree. I'll believe it when I see it.

400bhp-per-tonne

:D

I'll have one in this colour please.

@Gibbo It's what you were hoping, apart from the price :p

If it was what I was hoping for, I'd have dropped the 90k on one as I could just about afford to do so at a stretch.

But I look at it and I see VX220, Fiat 124, Supra conecept it just seems a total mess to look at, but it will certainly stand out, but it is by no means a pretty car.

Also I see its got the older gen2 Coyote engine (not the new one about to be released in MY18 Mustang), its also got a Shelby GT 350 steering wheel I also spotted Mustang wing mirrors and AC vents from the video, its a parts bin car yet it cost 100k near as dammit. It also uses the Tremec XL gearbox from the GT 350 as well. I'd rather buy a GT 350 as its far better looking car and convert it to RHD and still have change, but those are also manual only.

If it looked gorgeous, had a decent auto option and comfortable enough to be used as a daily then I could seriously consider it. But to cancel my order for new Mustang, sell the M3 and live on baked beans for one of these well its definitely not happening. Plus will it ever happen and there is way too much unknown about the car.

It's a brand new 2017 model car. "comfortable enough to be used as a daily"

If you want another boring Auto comfort access piece of ****, take your pick. Leave TVR alone, you're not the target audience.

Is this a final production model, the weight numbers seem too good to be true unless substantial sacrifices have been made?

My response was into someone suggesting it be my perfect car, ten years ago, then yes. Now I am afraid not, maybe if I could afford a 100k car as a weekend toy then maybe yes but such a spend would be my only car and as an only car its not to my liking in looks department and I would want one of those boring automatics now.

I am sure it will be a fantastic thing to drive for a fun drive and drive very well, how it will be as a daily no one knows, but looks wise well not to my liking and for me if I spent nearly 100k on a car it would have to be perfect which for my needs this is not.

Its my opinion and I welcome to it as you are yours. :)
Out of interest have you ordered one?

They should just release the old models (esp the Saragris) with modern engines, interior, suspension and vastly improved reliability... they'd sell like hotcakes. Appreciate safety has moved on so there would need to be changes but I'm sure they could be similar.

I detest that gaping fish mouth stuck at the front.

Your response was that your perfect car would be a TVR that... had none of the qualities that made a TVR a TVR, I suggested that you're not the target audience then, and the car you want is already made by many, many other manufacturers. No need to get butthurt over it.

No, I haven't ordered one, nor will I. A hopped up M Series is much more "me", my daily vehicles only have two wheels as cars stopped exciting me a long time ago, now a days I use them for practicality, so my 40 year old 3 series does me fine for now.

This things the closest to a new car I would ever buy though. Need to pay the house off first though, then maybe i'll consider one...

Eh, who am I kidding. I have everything from an S1 Elise to an LP400 to get my hands on long before then...

Well, it's still an awfully long way from production. The response so far (partly due to the terrible marketing it's received in some instances) might kill it off before it even hits the road.

Time will tell.

That old chestnut and you know we all don't want manuals any more, had my fair share of those cars you know for men, I've got one now and had several. Autos are better!

I think (hope) you mean "...we don't all want manuals..." rather than "...we all don't want manuals..."

Because I still want manuals please :p

/pedant.

I've not really a car guy but I must admit over the year's I've seen a few TVR models and I really like them, The Tuscan is a great looking car but the Sagaris is my favourite.. It's good to see TVR coming back but 70k seems steep

Not arguing with you here, am genuinely curious. I am looking at Boxster S's and going for PDK would certainly allow me many more options, why do you prefer auto?

I don't get why people want an automatic sports car. It's just not the same. It's like 1/3 of the involvement gone.

I was at a Porsche dealership meet a few months ago, someone with a GT3 had ordered the new one, and still went PDK over Manual because when they do a mountain pass, they are much quicker than when they have to use the clutch.

That's right - PDK is much quicker. If you want the ultimate in performance, it's what you go for.

You need to ask yourself is the car a daily user or a weekend toy?

I love a manual but at the same time I am not afraid to admit there are automatic options that are just as involving and even more fun. A car as a weekend toy only, a manual would not put me off as a manual gives you extra freedom that some automatic boxes do not.

But as a daily user well to be honest I find clutch pedal annoying, of course pressing a clutch pedal is what makes you a man in some peoples minds, but the reality is its just an annoyance, particular in traffic and as such for a daily an automatic is better.

Then lets remember automatics have come on miles to the point they are now also faster than manuals and the good ones when in manual mode are great fun and involving.

If I was buying a Porsche like you I'd not be looking at manuals, if Porsche offered the GT4 with PDK I'd go buy one tomorrow as I love that car, its nearly my perfect car, except the fact its a manual and I'd like it to have a few more horses but its light so its not exactly slow.

On a Porsche as long as you get PDK with sports plus and the sports wheel with paddles its an absolute riot and I'd take it over manual everytime, even if it was just a weekend car.

Porsche and BMW make it easy to go automatic because they are truly fantastic, Porsche PDK and BMW's M-DCT are marvellous and the people who generally put automatics down never driven one for more than 15 minutes, the people who own them generally would never look back. Audi's S-Tronic as on the R8 is also very good too, but my favourite is BMW's M-DCT with its 6-speed ferocity selector on the gearbox independent of any other car settings.

I am taking the gamble by picking 10-speed on new Mustang, I disliked the 6-speed auto in current gen, not so responsive on paddles and no blips. Hoping the 10-speed is better!

But I also prefer driving with both hands on the wheel and I prefer pulling paddles, I cannot be alone as your post proves and the fact that now even though Porsche offer both on the GT3 people still pick the PDK and the GT3 is one of the most manliest cars out there, but for me its simply more enjoyable with the auto over manual. Driving the GT3 RS was simply the the best car I have ever driven, I'd bankrupt myself tomorrow if Porsche would sell me a GT3.
