Hey guys

So I've currently have a NAS - Qnap TS210

Now when I transfer files over to it, I'm only getting 9MB/s

My network is as follows

PC - Powerline Adapter - Powerline Adapter - NAS - Router -

Now I'm sure I should be getting faster speeds then that?
It's a new build house so the wiring is spot on.
and the adapters are TP-Links 1200mb 2ports

Any help would be great
Cheers

something something something hardwire something something something powerline adapters wahhhhhhhhhh

You are likely being limited by the powerline adapters, every house is different, speeds vary wildly.

As ChrisD said, what speeds do you get when you avoid the powerline adapters.

9MB/s isn't too bad, generally the AV1200's max out at around 30 MB/s. You'd probably get better performance with a decent WiFi setup if it's not possible to run cables.

Should really find the source of the speed limitation before drawing conclusions, if for example the NICs in the PC and/or NAS are set to 100Mbit then that could be another cause.

Power line adapters are **** end of thread.
Probably no worse than WiFi. My router and laptop are capable of at least 867 Mb/s (ac), yet it never connects higher than ~170 Mb/s IIRC and I never get transfer speeds over 3.5 MB/s (28 Mb/s), despite getting 60+ Mb/s using speedtest.net.

Anything other than Cat5+ Ethernet is just too annoying IMO.

9MB/s is 72Mbit/s. That's pretty good for powerline so be happy or if you want more then run an ethernet cable would be my advice.

So I've double checked my setup.

I have a feeling my set up is incorrect.

These are what I have at hand

2x TP-Link 1200mb 2 port
Asus RT-AC68u Router
Sky SR102 router
Qnap TS210

PC - Powerline Adapter -> to a the Sky router and connected to that is the NAS, and Asus (AP) now I have a feeling my Sky Router is not a Gigabyte router... could that be bottle necking my connection ?

Decent wifi is far better then power line. I can get 30 Megabytes per second plus. But of course nothing beats a Ethernet connection.

Correct, the Sky router is 100Mbit so that's the most you'll get. Bypass it with a cheap Gigabit switch and use one connection from the router to the switch and see what the throughput is like then.

I'd put the NAS and the PC in the same room and on a gigabit switch. Then also run from the gigabit switch into the powerline and at the other end plug the other powerline into the router.
