I was referring to the GTX 750Ti relased in May 2013.Quite clever for a card that was only released 4 months ago, in May of this year.
Overclocking high-end hardware to achieve better yields is always popular, but often I find doing the same with "lesser" hardware is equally as fun and some times even more rewarding in a sense of achievement
So there fore I'd like to adress GT 1030 owners and hear what kind of overclocks you have managed to squeeze out of your cards
My Gigabyte GT 1030 Low Profile 2GB I tried overclocking to +600MHz on the Vram and it would run fine through 3Dmark Fire Strike and games like Overwatch, Rocket League,GTA 5, but in Unigine Heaven 4.0 I would get purple flickering stars appearing randomly in the benchmark.
So I had to back down the Vram overclock to +350MHz and then all is fine. The core clock however I run at +250MHz, and haven't tried higher or played with voltages - yet
Temperature wise the card maxes out at 65°c.
Yes it is based of the GT 1030 - should have the same specs alsoIsn't this the same as card as the MX150?
Yes, and I have applied better heat pads from Arctic on the vram under the heatsinkHas the memory got any active cooling? That might help.
I think it's a laudable hobby myself, doing more with less might get someone connected that otherwise couldn't afford to do it at all.
Are they 30w cards?Which would be fair enough in isolation - however second hand cards such as the 750ti, 760, 950 or 7850, 260X etc all offer better performance and can be normally had for less.
Are they 30w cards?
When I get home from work today, I am going to try to unlock the voltage control in MSI Afterburner and see if it'll be possibleI might pick one up. Do you have any voltage control?
Yea, and I also think it's interesting that before, pretty much every low-end budget card meant zero gaming joy because the performance simply wasn't there, not even for the lowest of low settings and resolution. Now we actually have a card than can do 720p gaming at high detail and 1080p at mix of low and medium - and only at 30watt !.Don't be put off OP - if would be nice to know if lower end cards can be overclocked since it is free performance for someone on a budget.

All cards can be overclocked, so of course there is some free performance. If you are on a budget, unless you need a 30w card, or absolutely have to buy new, then there is no compelling reason to buy new.
The budget end of the market is fairly stagnant, and while yes the 1030 is a huge improvement on e.g. the 710/730/740 that preceded it, it's still a lot slower than a mid range card launched as far back as 2012
No it positions itself at the absolute bottom of the discrete graphics market, one step above integrated solutions, the fact that it happens to have performance somewhere around a low-mid range part from 2013 is still disappointing (given how much more of an increase there has been at the high end in that time)It positions itself between between GTX 750 and GTX 750Ti from 2013.
The pro's of this card is that you pretty much can get any cheap old OEM HP/DELL/LENOVO PC and slap it in there and start your gaming experience.
The graphics card market is at a stand still. Will be interesting to see what the lower end offers. We might find some gold.

How is that a Pro? The fact that these OEM pcs are being supported rather than them actually having proper 75w pci-e slots is surely just encouraging shady practices in the first place.
It's not at a standstill every year you get a big performance boost and they get cheaper. E.g a 1060 is faster than a 970.
Can we stick with oranges then, cos adding apples in is just confusingClearly not, but outside of the use case of dodgy oem pcs that have power limited pcie slots, can't see why that's a factor.
