I don't really understand all of these comparisons to the Note 8...

The size difference between the two is quite considerable. One of the reasons I am interested in the iPhone X is that it has a bigger screen size than the iPhone 7/8 Plus but is considerably smaller. I will never be a fan of these large phablet style devices.
That one of the reasons am considering it.

I thought it was great that Apple finally added fast charging to the iPhone - it's not a feature that I require often, but there are situations where it's certainly beneficial. But, just like the iPad Pro 10.5" and 12.9", the included cable/charger don't support fast charging which is a bit disappointing. You need a lightning to USB C cable and the C mains adapter to do it which has an RRP of £25 for a 1 metre cable and an almost hilarious £49 for the Apple USB C charger so £74. Crazy.

Oh. So the iPhone x is £999 and you don't get a fast charger with it. :/

Fast charging on an iPhone isn't a big deal to me, simply because I've been using an 12W brick since launch.

Whilst its not super fast, its been fast enough to charge my phone when needed, an even faster charger is definitely though.

It is however extremely poor of Apple to not include a fast charging brick and USB C cable in the box especially with the X, at its price range.

Its found in the boxes of many mid-high end android phones, so there's really no excuse why it shouldn't be included with iPhones.

In fairness, I always found my 6 Plus charged pretty quickly from one of my Mac's USB ports. I'm not sure if it's the same speed that a 10+ watt/2 amp charger would have been or if it was somehow even faster, but it certainly did the job pretty quickly. If Apple didn't want to include a C cable and charger in the box they should at least take the chance to bump the included charger up to a 10 watt/2 amp one instead of the standard 5 watt/1 amp included with every other iPhone. Who knows, perhaps they actually have done.

It clearly states if you go through the process on the app store whats in the box for the X, which is a lightning to usb cable and 5w power adapter.

That's a bit annoying that the fast charger won't be included on top of an already expensive phone ...

Most annoying thing about apple is their complete disregard to the exchange rate $999 somehow to them equals £999 which is kind of ridiculous

I haven't seen anything mentioned about whether the iPhone X has the 120Hz refresh that the new iPad Pro has. I don't think it does because they would have made a big deal out of it.

But it's not at all.
$999 = £737
But then we need to add VAT which is 20% so £884

However, the $999 price doesn't include sales tax in the US because it varies by state. If we take say a 6.5% sales tax as a decent median then the dollar price becomes $1069 which equates to £790.

So the difference in price between US and UK is £94

Suppose that's true , still £100 more though and a lot of people will get the VAT back if bought through a business or even sole traders

Where's the extra £115 coming from on top of the £884? Just because they can?

Not sure I follow. If we do a price conversion of US price to UK we get a price of £737. Add VAT onto that of 20% and we get £884.

US price + an average sales tax is $1069 which at the current exchange rate is £792.

Thats not what we are charged though. We are charged £999. So its effectively £999 vs £884 or the price we are charged vs the price we should be charged.

Thats £116 difference. Thats not acceptable.

I'm having a brain fart. It is £116. I was trying to help someone with an AD issue at the same time as doing basic maths.........

I still can't believe we have to wait till the end of Oct to pre order. The launch for the X felt strange. It was heavily iPhone 8 focussed and spending a lot of time on them and then a quick, by the way we have the X and didn't spend much time on it. Guessing they are trying to push the 8 more as they know the X will be a big seller.

Its a shame Apple haven't thrown everything at the X in terms of fast charging accessories considering its £999. guess they have to make further money though.
