Hotmail is down....

I used to keep a hotmail.com/outlook.com account for my personal account.

Got tired of the spam, especially after they moved to the new service which seems to just have no real spam filtering at all.

Forwarded everything to my gmail.com account instead and not looked back since.

I always thought Ms had overzealous spam filtering.

Try being a business and getting mail to the inboxes of your customers reliably..

Have solid SPF record in place that is actually accurate, bonus points for proper DKIM/DMARC configuration, don't spam your emails with ridiculous hyperlink images, for most people that would be enough.

It never fails to amaze me how much crap gets through Hotmail's filters. Just the other day I had to dig something out of my ancient Hotmail account. Turns out I've won hundreds of lotteries, loads of rich dead people have pegged and need my assistance, etc. Can't remember the last time I had a spammy email in Gmail.

When you say hotmail do you actually mean hotmail or outlook with a hotmail address?

If the former then perhaps the issue I you're living in the naughties and need to "upgrade" the account to outlook. ;) most people did it a few years ago.

Guess I'm lucky. I have an MSN email and use outlook and never have any spam. :p

I think it's Outlook, not too sure. I usually log in, quickly extract the info I need and log off again. Hotmail / Outlook has been dead for me for years. I'll have a proper look next time :)

hotmail and outlook are the same thing really, they moved everyone over to a basic O365 version by my reckoning, and are pushing sales through that too (you can pay for a premium hotmail account lol).

hotmail did used to be an entirely independent system, but if you use the beta look/feel of hotmail/outlook you'll note that it's the same as Exchange OWA now.

They are having severe mail delays right now, I had emails arrive to me recently that were sent hours ago, and the common factor is that o365 was used to send them.
