No money spared? Or did you mean "spent"?

I was browsing Autotrader for a possible car for the Mrs and I for next summer when I came across this:

Why say "No money spared" and then not 2 lines later tell me that you are a cheapskate who can't afford proper tyres and therefore definitely can't afford to care for an SL55?
I think he maybe meant "No money spent on it" rather than spared.

Penny wise, pound stupid

Whilst demonstrably you must have spared some cash to have bought the Nankangs, he at least has elevated himself above the totally clueless seller and seems to take pride in his car and has addressed some pretty common (and expensive) issues...

Probably trying to say "no expense spared" as in, he threw the best bits at it.

....which is a load of bull.

He has installed a PSE pump and an ABC pump, these are not actually expensive issues any more really. Ive just looked up the advert and this is too much to spend on an SL55, in my opinion. Or, if really willing to spend this amount on one i would want a totally stock example of the car in absolutely near perfect condition with premium tyres and FMBSH.

I thought that Nankang are doing some good tyres? NS-2R etc?
That was my thought as well, it's not in the same league as saying he fitted a matching set of Linglongs :p That said if he genuinely wasn't concerned about the money spent on the car it would be wearing a premium brand of rubber. You don't buy Nankangs because you think they are the best you can buy.

Do all mercs have 2 batteries now adays or was this a special one off?:D
A few do. The SL-Class has had 2 batteries since the R230. There is a starter and essentials battery, and a much larger accessories battery. Means that the car will always start even if you drain the main battery :)

Not necessarily...
I heard tell of one guy who really did spare absolutely no expense on his car. He'd pay whatever amount for whatever his mechanic said was needed. It had a proper, decent, top end "racing clutch", which his mechanic would replace every year with a new one...... which turns out is just some bog standard £80 aftermarket one that the clueless owner was charged several hundred for!!

Possible he knew he was selling had an advisery for tyres on the mot and just threw on something cheap to gt rid of it?

Nankangs are ok. I love when tyre places always try to sell the cheap tyres to you and say “made in same factory as contis m8”

I agree.
It just popped up in my search. I thought it was an SL65 because of the wheels so I looked at it.

They might look good on rating but just wait till it rains. Then when your wrapped round a tree you think "why didn't I get some decent tyres"

They are better than you think. I know of someone using NS2R on his E36 328 race car and he is coming 1st and 2nd in class so they can't be all that bad. :P
