Can we expect to see a price reduction to the iPhone 7? I see that the 32GB is £540? Not an expert on these devices by any means but at the very least I'd expect these to be sub £450 after a newer model is announced? Seems a little steep considering you can buy a Galaxy S8 for around the same price mark.

Problem with the S8 is that it doesn't run iOS.

Prices won't be decreased for at least 6 months on the current iPhone lineup.

Its been reduced lol.
£599 --> £540

You wont see big reductions directly from Apple.

If you want it cheaper best chances are second hand or looking around various sites see If you find it at a better price.

For previous ones you're better off just buying as new condition used.

You can get a mint condition 32GB 7 for £300.

This.

I’m no fanboy of either side. But iOS is just better. At everything. It’s more polished, and uniform.

Lacks customisation, but honestly, who cares.

As for a price drop. You don’t generally see price drops on apple stuff unless they’re nearing the final production units.

That would make more sense, its to replace my wife's broken LG G4.

Where's the place to grab a decent refurb? (with some warranty ideally)

Contradiction in terms right there. Seriously, you might want to include some evidence if you're going to write BS statements like that.

Apple being number one in smart phone sales not enough evidence ? Hardly BS. Everybody knows the user experience is better in iOS than it is android.

Where abouts? I'm trying to get a Rose Gold 6S for my mum to replace her aging pink 5C, but I'd grab her a 7 for that price if I saw one. Not had much joy lurking on the iPhone classifieds on AVF - want 32GB or 64GB so she can retire her super-ancient iPod Touch as well. Probably be an easier job if she didn't want that bleeding colour, but I have my orders.:D

Put the serial number into the Apple website and it'll tell you how much warranty it has left.

UK units come with 12 months warranty, so depends when the original buyer bought the phone.

You can buy AppleCare for extra £ to extend it.

Units sold in Australia get 24 months warranty worldwide due to Australian consumer law, I'm not sure if the same laws apply in the UK?

I just picked up a 7+ 128gb second hand for £500. I know apple don't sell the 128gb anymore but that would have been £819 last year. You can save a fair bit by getting a second hand 7 and I doubt you would notice much difference between the 8 and the 7 at the moment. Maybe in a few years you will because the A11 processor looks like a monster but currently the 7 is still a brilliant phone and the 7+ has the same RAM as the 8 so it should last well.

AVF I used you just have to be fast or get lucky with timing as anything even remotely well priced gets snapped up, most stuff on there is overpriced and a lot won't budge either, think they're just testing the water to see if some wally will jump.

I got an immaculate 7+ 32gb for £400 the other day with 2 good cases and a screen protector.

Android: The discussion around Android's share of the smartphone market became irrelevant a few years back when it became clear that devices running Google's OS would continue to capture roughly 85% of the worldwide smartphone volume. What is interesting is to look at the many micro-trends going on within the platform. Despite a slew of very attractive high-end Android products, IDC continues to see Android average selling prices (ASPs) decline and expectations are that the 1.5 billion Android phones that ship in 2021 will have a collective ASP of $198, down from $220 in 2017Q1.

I feel like there will be less 7s in the second hand pipe line this year, as the 8 is a basically a 7s and the X has reached a price range that will put off a lot of people, meaning less 7 and 7+ users will upgrade than usual.

I see 6s's still going for that kind of money, so if you have any places to try i'd be interested. Cheapest 7's ive seen are b grade 32gb ones and they still go for over £400 :(

I'll keep checking there. I might just tell her to accept any colour and stick rose gold case on it to make getting one easier as if I can't use one naked without it slipping out of my hands, there's no chance she will. Agree about it being over-priced too, people don't budge then whinge when their stuff doesn't sell.
