You are Skynet!

If it was that easy hackers would have done it already :p

US wise, I seen videos and reports that the current supply infrastructure isn't that well protected or defended and if someone really wanted too, they could really screw it over and collapse it.

The problem is that when you get caught and they will catch you, then you likely spend the rest of your life in jail.

That said, it's not as simple as just sitting behind the computer, you also need boots on the ground getting inside these places getting information to allow you to hack them afterwards.

I was born in the late 60's. I'm utterly astonished how fast things are changing now and I'm the geek that adopted a zx81 when no-one knew what they were. Give it 5 years, maybe 10, maybe 50 at a real push and then take a look around at what's happening.

I'll just make it to retirement. My kids? Probably not and I worry for them. Their kids? Not a chance.

My generation, and the following, and maybe the one after that, collectively will be seen as the generations that wiped out humanity. Maybe...
I was born in 1970, i also see how things are changing very quickly, sometimes it feels so quick that it feels kinda forced and that tech is overtaking everything, i think employment wise there are going to be some dark days, one example, i have watched some programs that say driverless trucks will be the norm in the USA in 10 years, that is ~3 million truckers out of a job, where or what do they all do next? That is just one example on automation, there are 1000s more job types that can become automated, taxis? worldwide?

Which is why a national living wage should start becoming a real thing.

Yes, i also think that any job that a human loses through automation then the company should still pay the rate of tax the employee would have paid, makes sense to me as the company would not be paying a salary anymore so would still be in profit.

It's interesting I think that so many assume a super-smart AI would want to destroy humanity.

Perhaps paranoia, distrust, and downright hostility are more human traits. Perhaps a super-smart AI will rise above them.

Not sure it's a case of human traits at all. Any unfamiliar observer (eg: a sentient AI) using cold hard logic would probably determine that as a species, we were a threat to the planet and therefore its very own existence.

I mean, we quite happily cull animals that are seen as a threat to the ecosystem or that have populations that are getting out of control. It makes sense and is for the benefit of all, right? ;)

But there you're assuming that the human "solution" to these problem is the best solution, and hence a super-smart AI couldn't devise a better solution than culling us all.

It should be noted that we love to cull animal populations even when there is no scientific evidence for doing so. Ie, badgers. We just love murdering things!

Very true. But which views are those? The ones where AI beats us or the ones where we beat AI?
Both! I for one love Westworld, it's a great series. The realities are so different though aren't they? I mean by all rights, we should be flying around on hover boards by now, right?

Got to love the fantasist views
Yeah, a lot of it is a bit of a push in all reality, but hey it's a bit of GD fun. :)

Some of us have obviously read/watched too much dystopian Sci-Fi but you never know - sudden advances can change everything. :D

I'd take control of all these new ridiculously expensive smart light bulbs and make them flicker every 15 seconds. Not like horror movie flickering, just a slight almost imperceptible flicker that's noticeable but slight enough to make you wonder whether your eyes are just playing tricks. I'd make sure to stop this if anybody starts trying to work out what's going on, then I'd start up again when they'd settled back down.

The really interesting thing is, every time an AI tried to go online it gets so racist, particularly against black people, that it would make the KKK blush
You do realise why that is, don't you? It's because the AIs are designed to fake intelligence by mirroring what is said to them. People then predictably abuse that by feeding them filth and the AIs regurgitate it because they have no sense of propriety.
