Just logged on to nationwide this morning to be presented with a popup box saying "Continue with your Mortgage application" with no option but to press continue.

I managed to close the box afterwards and get to the online banking as normal, but thought I had better ring them to check whats going on.

They have had a lot of calls about it this morning (so quite a wait time on the phone to be answered) and it is a glitch in their system.

So if you get the same issue, save yourself the time in ringing them, it is a glitch and not an identity fraud mortgage application! :D

I'll make sure to title any future glitches like that "FREE MONEY HERE" just so as not to get your hopes up and disappoint you :D

Whilst we're speaking about nationwide. I believe that there could be a flaw in there retail banking processes.

I popped into my local branch a few days ago. To setup a standing order. At no point was I asked for a form of ID. Or asked to enter pin number.... The member of stuff just set everything up.

I could've been anyone!

Did you actually set up a standing order, or did that trip to the branch kick off a process where you get sent a letter informing you about a standing order and requiring you to do something to complete it?

It was all setup. No additional questions asked!

I went on yesterday evening and everything was as normal barring a warning at login that there was maintenance scheduled.
