anyone install Gull Wing door on Civic Si Coupe?

I can't fathom why you would even consider this. If you already had a type r and were a little bit mad I could understand it, maybe. But with the amount of cost this will add you will still have a decidedley average Cvic, but with silly doors.

Why not sell the car, put the money you get and the cost of the doors together and buy a Type R? Simply a better car all around?
 
I saw these about 20 yrs ago and thought cool......

Bearing in mind I also thought fluorescent socks and drainpipe jeans were cool at some point too.



And I've just used the word cool to describe something......I'm down wiv the kids innit....

I might buy a McLaren but actually not sure about depreciation so I'll install some gull wing doors to my Honda Civic.
 
As far as I can tell, there are only 2 reasons to do this to a basic Civic:

1. It looks cool.
2. You can't afford a better car so want to make your current car look more flashy.

1. Is wrong by every single measure. It looks stupid on anything other than a Macca or a Lambo. When I see kids with them on a Polo, Civic, Saxo, or some other Jap or Euro crap-box I actually laugh.
2. Is fair but you would be better off taking the thousand or so USA money it would cost to do it and putting it in the bank, then using said money later on to buy something good.
 
Are these even legal to get through an MOT?

As above if you ever crash your car the emergency services will have a heck of a time trying to get you out as a big part of how doors and their associated mountings are designed to be able to still be opened in the event of an accident. I know the Mercedes car with the gull wing doors had to have explosive bolts so if it ever rolls they fire so the doors come off so you can get out.

Just search his post history, it's good for a quick laugh. Not sure if he's genuinely a deluded dreamer or just fishing for reactions from us.
 
Just make sure you document the build process and post it on here!

I'd save the cash and put it towards the 570S repayments personally :p

I hate the Type R, the high front (where the honey comb part) reminds me of a truck. It's too high

Why? Civic SI coupe is the 2 door, low profile sports car. a 2 door opens up would like something like this:


now, you tell me what is wrong w/ the above installation? (advance to approx. 6:01 )

with this person, he did the lambo door, and he talks about his feedback on his installation afterwards

now, that's an excellent point. Let me talk to those dealers and see what they say about this
 
It looks crap that's what's wrong with it. A Civic is not a sports car. It's a Civic. It's a basic, small car. The ci is the Coupe version of a basic small car.

Next you'll be telling me my XJ is a sports car because it does 0 to 60 in 5 seconds...........
