Between now and then

we have a Tory party that to a lot of people seems on a collision course to implode, we have Labour, a party that seems like a government in waiting

We aren't all hippie labour supports here bud.. Labour look weak, and would ensure a horrible future of social justice nonsense..

Generally I'd agree but if events like Brexit panned out towards the more extreme outcomes and caused things like general social unrest I think Farage would be in with a chance - he seems to manage ok at playing chaos to his own ends.

Corbyn won the Labour leadership because regular members got to vote. The Conservative Party doesn’t elect their leaders in the same way. Assuming that Farage won a seat (at the seventh time of asking?), he’d still need to convince Tory MPs that he was the right person to lead the party.

As I was saying, Corbyn for PM.

Tories still bashing Labour "for the mess the country is in" yet they have had 7 years to fix it. All they have done is made it even worse.

I did think the Tories could have won another GE before this years disaster. I'm sure the public are ready for another Labour go at it whenever the next GE comes along. Hopefully after one term of it then the cycle will come round to the Tories again for another 2-3 goes at it.

Will the Tories allow a GE to happen before 5 years are up - nope they will make sure they hang on until TM decides to give it up or 18 months before the 2022 election she will get the boot so a new Tory leader will come in and things might look up for them then.

The record for Government in the current position doesn't look good for full term predictions!

Made it worse? How?

You do understand you can't just magically refill the coffers overnight, ready for another labour government.

The EU referendum, whether you agree with it happening or not, has undoubtedly done damage to our economy. A weak economy means lower tax revenue.

Even the Telegraph is now reporting that Brexit is going to cost half a million jobs.

Sorry don't see it, unemployment at 42 year low, wages going up, interest rates going up.

Things look good.

Whats the record? - I think they have pulled on one commons vote they knew wouldn't go through - they rest the won (as far as I know)

Otherwise unless its perception of how they are doing then I don't yet see how the government is going to fall apart. Also now brexit is pushed out a couple of years that's also delayed any short term issues on that subject

that doesn't mean that something could happen but the common narrative of Labour being on the cusp of another GE win isnt something I can see happening

I challenged him on wage growth versus inflation in another thread and was met with deafening silence.

Also it seems odd to criticise Labour and champion the Conservatives, by comparing the lowering of unemployment rates to a record low level which was actually first achieved under a Labour government he despises so much. But then, isn't this the guy who claims the voting age should be raised to a level that suits his personal convictions, and thinks Brexit is a roaring success purely because immigration levels have dropped? I'm not expecting much in the way of joined-up thinking from him.

i don't see a problem - things will happen, some good, lots bad - its the same its ever been.

if you think the country/world is worse now than it was 30/40 years ago then you are delusional.
live your own life, the rest will sort itself out.

i think a lot of the problem is social media - too many people whining in public when in the past you normally wouldn't hear them - it means there is less time to fix the problem - in that respect maybe things are worse this time ;)

That's true enough I suppose, throughout my life we've had the IRA, Argentina, crazy Russians, nukes, middle easterners, pollution, corruption, immigration, racism, paedophiles, climate change, etc etc and at the moment we have the unknown and unrecognisable terrorists, North Korea and China (not so much China... yet!) to worry about.

Once we're past this current lot the next one will be aliens as there's not a lot else left!

Back in the 80s, everyone was complaining about pretty much the same things people are complaining about today. Nothing really has changed. There's always a bad (or is it good?) guy. Thatcher. There's always poverty. There's always complaints about the various governments. It's never ending and it never really changes, except for the protagonists; different faces, same mouths.

Yep, I remember all that.

Imagine this happening in the UK, i couldnt stop laughing.

May, Corbyn, Boris, Abbot, Cable all having a brawl.
