my tv has wi-fi, my phone has wi-fi, can someone explain to me why i need to have a 30' cable dragging behind me if i want to watch tv whilst remaining quiet
I don't I watch Netflix on my TV and use the app on my phone for the sound. What's your excuse?
Probably because it's speakers aren't (usually) great, may not be stereo and would require the TV have a wireless system that can work with the phone? (and the phone have the ability to act as a wireless speaker).my point is what's the point of having a battery powered computer with wireless in my pocket that i can't use as a set of wireless headphones

How do you do that?

The number of people that would use it would be relatively small as well so not a major selling point.
The main reason will be cost of implementation and lack of demand.true, but you could then at least use the phone as the equivalent of a bluetooth dongle.
it's not so much a case of why do it, but why it hasn't been done, would be convenient for all sorts of devices not just specifically phones/tv's
for example the ps4's capability of using the controller for audio output, albeit much more universal.

It makes sense for a wireless controller for a games console to have audio output through the controller if the console has voice comms.
There hasn't been that same need/reason for doing it with TV's.
Write to Samsung/Sony/Panasonic with the idea, if enough people express an interest it's the sort of thing they might look at.
Is it just me, or have PCs taken a step back on Bluetooth tech? When I had no BT items, like my old "Barton" XP2800 system, I swear it had BT. But now I have a few BT items including earphones, my 5820k system lacks BT natively.
Maybe I just bought a budget motherboard, Gigabyte X99 Gaming 5P, as part of my "early bird Black Friday" bargaintastic deal a few years ago.
