it's 2017

so what op wants is video on tv but audio streamed to his phone to be listened to via wired headphones from his phone.

seriously dude wireless headphones cost like 20 quid just buy some

wait...
are you saying Netflix will play video from your phone, to your tv, and stream the audio to your phone headphones?

If you have a Roku box you play a video from Netflix on there like you any other device. You can then download the Roku app from the App / Play store allows you to connect to your Roku box and stream whatever audio is being outputted from the box to your phones headphones instead.

they tend to have an external arieal
Ah fair enough. I thought it would be a PCB etched antenna. If it's around the back then that's still not ideal though. My PS4 controller and headset work much better with the dongle plugged into the front.

This 100%. I don’t mind saving money, but for the sake of a score or so, all the gaff just isn’t worth it. I picked up a pair of Philips 3060’s on offer for £30 for watching TV and they are fine. Crystal clear and easy to use. Decent battery life too.

mine is jist a cable with a little stick antenna on a magnet stuck it to the side of the case that faces me

although Bluetooth works fine for me through abour 1 inch thick aluminium inside the wing when my phone is on in my steel tool box so a thin pc case should be ok

LG promoted a range of TVs a couple of years ago that could use your phone as a personal audio output for late night viewing. I am guessing they didn't carry that forward to newer models then.

My Panasonic plasma has BT output, which surprised me when I found it after several years of owning it. Worked fine with my son's Sony headphones when I tried but you can only output to a single device at a time. Not much of a problem as I use my PS4 set for streaming Netflix and Amazon when everyone has gone to bed.

I have seen some recent BT speakers and headphones that can link pairs for shared content but I don't know of any source devices with multiple simultaneous connections (not that I look for them :p).
