Hi Peepz My first post so Hello to all. A little backround, my kids killed my current pc Current set up 5 years old now. Core duo cpu radeon 6780 gpu
8gb corsair ddr3 ram 250 ssd hypertec 1tb hdd Corsair 750 psu A copper cpu cooler i think its corsair. A big copper head with a fan inside it.

Pc turns on fans start, no beep from the board, nothing on the screen, like it's in sleep mode. tried to remove power from dvd drives & removed all memory stick aprt from 1 & tried swapping them but still nothing. don't know what it could be? don't want to throw too much money at it now. With the below wish list what budget you think i get it done with. I7 cpu pref intel (or is AMD better and cheaper) A good decent motherboard Nvidia 960 gpu (or equivalent) 16gb corsair vengence ddr4 (or equivalent) A good fan cooler for the cpu as im not like the liquid cooling as could leak. A decent case but no fancy lights or anything I could use my existing psu & ssd & hdd what you think? dont want to spend over £600 I would love some expert advise on which set up to go for.

thankz ice

you've picked a good time for our kids to kill your PC!!

AMD have stepped up their and the CPU game

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £381.47
(includes shipping: £10.50)

6 cores- 12 threads that can match intel K offerings when gaming- equal streaming and smash multitasking ! Unless your dying to top FPS count then i7 7700k is still king at 5.0+Ghz ..... once you've delid it ... and paid a lot for it...

Use the stock cooler- quick post here, youtube or google and CPU overclock will have all cores going at 3.7 Ghz at least!

as for GPU.. depending on remaining budget

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £589.47
(includes shipping: £10.50)

Unfortunately AMD RX 570 pricing is sky high due to currency mining ....

Nice 1 Orbit

  • Increase the RAM to 16GB
  • This should come in about £650 don't you think?
  • if I wanted a slightly better spec would you change the CPU, motherboard or ram to anything higher? say around £800 (if I don't tell the misses ;-)

not work the extra £30 to go 3200 from 3000 - unless your pushing to 3333hz then its worth paying £190 for 8 packs 3200 ram kit

3GB is a good choice for the cash, if you could push for the 6GB verison just because it has more cores- but also worth checking out how much VRam any of your games use- to be honest 3GB should be fine most of the time :)

as for the board- B350 Gaming 3 or Strix is the most common recommend on a budget- if not you go for X370 Taichi which is the best board on Ryzen platform but comes in at £200+

b350 chip set has proven to be just as good as x370 ... AMD kinda shot mobo vendors in the foot on this one... saving £100+ on a mobo can land you say a 1700 over a 1600 and still overclock it to 3.8Ghz+ , just as your can on the x370 chipset and hit 3200hz memory

you did just miss out on OCUK awesome Taichi , ryzen 1600 , 16gb and AIO deal which smashed rival retailers and other board vendors but now is £600+

Sorry orbit you got a bit techy on me then, what you saying stick with the 8GB ram 3200? you suggested above? does the board not take 4stick? or is 2x8gb better?
Also is the gpu 3gb, what if we went for the 6gb micky is saying? is there much of a difference? if its lot more money then stick to the 3gb

Do me another basket with the best options then

8GB or 2x4GB sticks is good is you want to keep budget low but getting 16gb or 2x8GB sticks would be ideal-last longer . Also you'd save money going for 3000hz kit over 3200hz kit as not much difference in Gains- thats the sweet spot with Ryzen . These to speeds give a massive increase over the default speed of 2133 and bundles sold with 2400hz ram.

you will notice an increase in performance of the 6GB version over the 3gb and in theory will last you longer as its more powerful. As always get the best GPU you can within your budget as they has the greatest effect- but thats not an invitation to space out on a Nvidia 1080 Ti £600+ card when you have a 10 year old 1080p screen lol

1060 6GB + 8GB ram would get you the performance vs going 1060 3gb and 16GB of ram for roughly the same cost each. If you can get 16gb with 1060 6GB in your budget then great!

Wicked price the basket for pls with1060 6gb with the 16gb and ill take a look.

thats the cheapest gtx 1060 6GB and 3000hz 16GB ram kit that has good compatibility with ryzen

thankz, i'll also need a case? or shall I just put it in my existing one?
give us a link to few cases & i'll choose one
Once I order & receive it, i'll need to attach my cooler on top of the cpu? will I need some bonding glue?
attached my SSD & HDD & away I go, hopefully ;-)
Oh some people say my PSU on my existing set up may be gone so a link to PSU aswell pls

If i buy the final basket by orbit with a case will overclockers fit the cpu, cpu fan and motherboard into the case for me? I dont feel confident enough to fit the cpu?
Also ive noticed a lot of these new case dont have a dvd bay. How will i load the os as its on disc?My current ssd has win 7 ultimate already install on it shall just fit that or will i have to load new os?
Also is it worth getting new serial ATA 6gb cables for my ssd and hard drive?
Thankz
