Bought a bargain GTX 1070...but now 1070ti comes along!

Good afternoon everyone

It's been a long time since I've posted on here, but I'm getting back into my PC gaming and I need some advice.

I bought a Zotac GTX 1070 mini when they were going for £330 on a competitor site (around end of August). Because of the demand, I only got the thing yesterday.

However, now I hear that the GTX 1070ti will be released end of Oct, but we won't know its performance until then (people are assuming between 1070 and 1080 frame rates). I, on the other hand, have 10 days from now to return the Zotac 1070 if I think that the 1070ti will perform sufficiently well for the price increase over the 1070 I bought at £330. The 1070ti could be £400 or more (assuming US MSRP of $429).

What do we all think?

Thanks!

I'd stick with the 1070. With all the price gouging going on, I doubt you are getting a decent ti for under £400. A £330 1070 is a bargin these days.

look, there will always be something else around the corner, something else coming up in a few months bla bla. As long a you have a card that is good enough, what's the problem. Keep that Zotac until warranty runs out or you really feel you need more power and don't give in to the temptation of always going for the new shiny.

I can't really see the point of a 1070Ti.

There's not a huge difference between a 1070 and 1080 anyway, so slotting a GPU in the middle of the two in terms of performance seems really odd.

Well you know nvidia as of late. Any opportunity for a milk, they'll get the bucket out.

Common misconception that is. Be happy there is choice at every corner rather than having just one card. Plus, no one says you have to buy everything they release. If you do that then you can't complain of milking, you are milking yourself ...

It's hardly a misconception when there is clear overlap of products.

Why is there always one who tries to defend the indefensible..

I bought a 1070 from Ocuk for £290. Just seen the price of it now...WOW. About time I bought cheap. Thinking of selling it now and upgrading to a 1080ti

AMD Vega 56 that is why.
If the Vega 56 wasn't slightly faster than the current 1070 then the 1070ti wouldn't make an appearance, simply as that.
Nothing to do with milking or any other such rubbish, simply that NVIDIA want to lead the way in each segment of the market, so having the Vega 56 beat the current 1070 must be unbearable for them.

You'll find an overlap of products in any companies portfolio. I believe a 1070ti is unnecessary but I don't believe nvidia is milling, more wanting to be top dog in the mid range category after Vega 56.

I see it as a way to use up failed 1080 chips!

because there's always one who repeats the same thing over and over thinking he is right. that's why ...

But why try and dispute the obvious? Personal opinion aside, look at the last 6 years say, and explain how the repetition of Nvidia’s marketing strategy wasn’t intended to milk the market, while remembering to think in the context of little to no competition from AMD.
