Conundrum - PC Swap around

Hello,

Overview. Been trying to get the Wife to play games for ages. Finally found one she likes (ARK) but the pc I gave her won't run it very well! I want her to continue playing so need so advice on the best way to go.

Her specs

AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Socket AM3 3.2 GHz 6MB L3 Cache Retail Boxed Processor
Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H 890GX Socket AM3 HDMI DVI VGA Out 8 Channel Audio ATX Motherboard
G.Skill Ripjaw 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (F3-12800CL8D-4GBRM)
Sapphire 5850

Played through a 50inch Plasma TV.

I'm wondering. If I gave her my R290, would the CPU hold it all back too much. I was thinking, give her the 290 and I could get a 1070 or something.

Alternatively, how cheaply could I build her a system to literally just play ARK?

I have SSD's laying about!

Thank you, issue is, I would still need a new card for myself! Whats the cheapest card that is equal or better than the R290?

Personally, if you've got the budget for new Ryzen and gtx 1070...

(includes shipping: £8.70)

Get the 1070. But to be honest , getting the Ryzen build and gtx 1060 should do yourself fine and your wallet ! 1070 Ti.. if does come to pass may drop 1070 price a little
