Back at it again, another build incoming.

Building a box for a mate.

He has keyboard, mice and speakers and I'll give him my old 1080p 23" monitor.

He uses the PC for steam gaming mostly so -;

TF2, Minecraft, Source engine games etc.

Doesn't need anything too crazy just as good as he can get for £550.

That is his max budget, what would you guys recommend? I'm so out of the loop with hardware these days that I don't know what's worth getting and what is not.

Thanks in advance.

4 cores, 8 threads- should last a while- just GPU that would need updating in 2 years if they start to game more

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £554.19
(includes shipping: £12.30)

asus card is on a sale and good price with 3 year warrant- Gigabyte board is one of the best Ryzen budget boards- 8Gb should do them feel enough and can add more in future . CPU comes with a stock fan and can be overclocked to 3.7ghz across all cores on it just fine

that looks spot on! thank you, any reason to go for AMD 460 rather than 1050? or try and convince him to stretch to 1050Ti?

quick research - 4gb 560 could be good if they use a lot of minecraft mods which eat up VRam

nvidia is cooler and less power too :)

Ti is Ideal and nvidia always nail the lower end Ti cards - but only worth it if he can stretch the budget- and will use minecraft mods or thinking of plaing more recent games at 1080p which does eat 2.5-3GB of vram

you can run TF2 and minecraft very well on a hyperthreading dual core and should be plenty capable for the other games whatever they be(my own experience more than reviews), so with that being said, the 1200 ryzen would be plenty for whats needed as its a true quad, i know the 1060 3gb isnt the same as the 6gb version, but it would still be capable.

I do link kolink PSU and have built with them in the best, just got to look how much power they supply through the single rail

Definitely swap the Kolink powersupply the power output on them is very low.. Consider the XFX powersupply for sure :)

^^^^

@grudas
And also order Tuesday, ocuk update on Wednesdays and the CPU is on a deal !

As you've seen from your current list to when I first post of £20, this may change back at mid day Wednesday. Though I admit that £20 would be better suited on the PSU ;(

Few more pennies from CPU deal and...

is the mobo compatible with the ram? some reviews are a bit 50/50 by the sounds of it.
