this thread was for Tuesdays record jackpot of £167m, why is fridays rollover only £168m?

The limit is £168m apparently. If it's still not won any extra cash will filter to the next prizes down

Yup, limit is €190m so the fluctuation from 167 to 168 is down to exchange rate, you'll always get the euro amount when claiming the prize. It's usually limited by the number of rollovers but as this string started at 110m it's got this high and maxed out.

Ahh, I think the last time this happened the exchange rate was worse and it was more like £180m when the limit was reached. Extra ticket for Friday purchased

Still pathetic distribution of the prizes when 4 correct numbers plus 2 star numbers gets you - £2314 !! One more number correct gets you £161 million.

Should be much better spread of the pot, rather than lumping it all at the top end.

but then they can't market it as well, part of the attraction is the idea of winning a massive prize

it's because the odds of winning is directly linked to number of matches. spread the pot and then people wouldn't play and they would likely end up losing money as they are paying out more in smaller wins.

e.g. match 3 numbers in the normal lottery you get £10. match 3 numbers on a 3 number hot pick and you get £300.
