Just seen 1600x on for 188 quid, seems an absolute steal, I'm trying my hardest not to pull the trigger...

Is this the start of an aggressive AMD price war....

Was looking at that, but the need of a cooler, bangs the price up a bit
Can get a 1600 with cooler for £179 and should be able to oc to the 1600x 3.6ghz easily enough using the standard amd cooler

Just priced up a 1600 build....

Asus B350 Pro Prime
Corsair Mem
1600

£340 delivered, seems an absoloute bargain still. Will these prices get more aggressive though that is the ???

If happy with price now, get it now
Could wait and they go up, with intels screw up amd have no need to alter prices now
So will only be down to retailers to reduce prices if they need to.
Im the same as you but im waiting for pay day before i get the 1600, b350m msi mortar arctic motherboard and corsair ddr4 3000mhz ram
Think that comes to £340 also

I only game at medium/high anyway 1080p, so baring at faults down the line, the 1600 should last me a long time

I'd consider a 1600 for £130... It would be so cheap and worth it because I'd have a socket that would be decent for the next 3 years.

You hope it becomes £130 or you have seen them for £130?
Because cant see amd selling them for that price
Even for £179 its a cracking buy

He is hoping, it's a great buy at £179 lots for the money and the socket seems cheap and will last?

Will defo last, 6 cores and higher thread count..
We all now core to core intel is faster, but you pay intel tax for it
I hung on in the hope intel had seen the light, always been an intel guy, but they have lost me now..
For my needs the 1600 is the sweet spot with a very good price to match, is easily overclockable and the motherboards are reasonably priced

You buy an intel K chip you need a cooler, plus need to spend about £40 more for an equivalent intel motherboard.
Makes the intel for me about £100+ more
I refuse to pay that for limited gains
That £100+ extra will get me my ram for ryzen and a small ssd for my windows OS

Just pulled the trigger on one.. steal at that price.

I have no doubts that it will last for ages.. don't game like i used to. virtual machines and general day to day usage is more important to me.

AMD Athlon 3700+ San Diego was my last AMD chip over ten years ago. :D
