sorry for another question, will be my last one on video cards, but just seen an asus gtx 970 on gum for £70, it’s single fan so it be the mini 970, I’m trying to see if I can get it for Monday, but curious as to what replaced it or perhaps what’s better than it from newer generation?

Actually forget that, was only listed for 40 minutes and someone beat me to it , but I suppose I would still like to know the answer if any cares to tell me if anymore pop up for cheap.

The GTX 970 was followed by the GTX 1070 which is a considerablely better card and considerably more expensive.

The GTX 1060 is more comparable to the previous GTX 970 now but you've no chance of snagging one at the prices you have been quoting.

Theres no replacement for the 970 yet, 1070 is too much money, 1060 doesnt have the performance

Edit at your price point look at 970's or 980's

The 1060 6GB is just about faster than the 970, especially with Pascal 's enhanced boost system.

Ah okay cheees for the replies, shame I was too late, mean I don’t m ownhow the mini versions are, but always wanted a 970 after my brother getting an msi gaming one couple years ago and being so popular any bargain ones I see like this one are snapped up straight away, next cheapest I’ve seen is an actual msi gaming at £120, which is too much doh!

Midrange graphics card market is a mess at the moment, luckily I bought my rx480 8gb just before the current mining rush.
Second hand get snapped up really quickly.

have you been living in a cave? prices are high because demand > supply. memory shortages, miners buying them in their thousands. the price of the cards has been going up and up over the last year instead of down.

Yes I know. But great job stating the obvious. Great post would read again.

It doesn't matter why prices are high, its the fact that they are that is the issue.

so in essence then i guess it be the case of 970 or just straight up aim high as far as nvidia goes then, i did see a 980 for £160 the other day, but sold within 2 days..

i think then for the way things are a 970 is my best choice for price/performance without touching a worthy 10 series and a potentially overpriced 980.
