Hyde Park is massive. The queue isn't literally outside Hyde Park.

Don't ever actually remember a queue even except for the security checks where only people with bags are checked. It is free to enter.

last year there was enough people outside the "gate" that you could bomb a car down the path there and hit a good few dozen.

truck stop barriers well placed would solve the issue though but I can see why people would be concered

What "gate"? You mean someone drive a vehicle into the park for hundreds of metres and reach the entrance of Winter Wonderland?

Why stop there, they could actually drive inside if they wanted as the boundary of Winter Wonderland is hardly protected against vehicles. Queues are irrelevant then.

I thought there were bollards by the entrance/security check though but my memory of street furnatyre from over 12 months ago is admittedly vauge

like I said some truck stop barriers at the park entrances would solve it.

What you are suggesting is absurd. There is no risk of it happening, Winter Wonderland is far away from any road and require navigating the entrance to Hyde Park. Anyone wishing to do harm has far easier targets around Hyde Park with heavy footfall.

Pretty pointless given the tram tracks meant it was impossible to block off vehicle access to the area. As with most anti terror initiatives, just a load of crap to make people feel safe.

He's had to change the definition of "gate". It now means the entrance to Winter Wonderland. As you've said there isn't really a queue there anyway.

So what happened then? all of the articles this morning say that police are appealing for witnesses which suggests they either have no idea or they simply don't have enough evidence to call it terror related.

In an RTC with injuries there is always an appeal for witnesses. Don't you see the police signs everywhere? Usually see a few every week.

Doesn't mean they don't know much.
