Hello everyone, it has been a while since i've been on this forum, and hoping for a bit of advice for my new build, it's been a while since i built my last computer, and just want to make sure i dont make the same mistake i did last time.

First of all my budget is going to be around £1500, with a bit of leeway. I do a bit of streaming online, which my current build seems to struggle with, and some games i would like to play, but my GFX card and CPU cant handle, for example, PUBG and Total War Warhammer.

I've heard good things through the grapevine about the new Ryzen CPU's, and am seriously debating going for one, even though after my last AMD build i said i wouldn't get one again. I'm thinking of having a SSD for the OS and whichever games i'm currently playing, either a 1070 or 1080 gfx card, 16/32gb ram, one main thing i sturggle with is which MOBO to go for.

So in total i'm going to be looking for:

CPU + Cooler
GPU
MOBO
Ram
PSU
SSD (OS + Games) + HDD (for storage of music and videos)
OS (Win10 i'm thinking for the newer games out, new DX version)

I think that's everything, please correct me if i'm missing something vital. Any help much be much appreciated, thank you very much.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,464.37
(includes shipping: £12.60)

8 cores , perfect for streaming, large SSD for OS and key games with 2tb hdd storage .gtx 1070 for high FPS 1080p or solid 60+ 1440p . Kept cool with a nice case with glass and 240 AIO. Board and ram.combo that works well and should hit 3.8/9Ghz with the core OC

You could drop a gtx 1080 in there

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £509.99
(includes shipping: £0.00)

Means dropping case to £35 worth saving £20, getting rid of the AIO and using stock cooler saving £50, dropping to 1TB HDD saving £20, swapping PSU to cheaper 650w aswell might save £10 and offer ample power

Hopefully you'll get a 3rd 4th list , two above - one subtle with high storage and AIO, other with style and power.

If streaming wasn't involved you might of had a Ti squeezed in or Intel i5 coffee lake but 1700 is just a solid choice for the money

Thank you very much for the quick replies. I had rnadomly put a few things into basket to work out the approximate cost, but both of these are better setups. The streaming has gone extremely quiet recently though since having a child addition to the family! So only streaming one day a week at the moment, but thank you so much. Just need to wait for a cheque to go into the bank and make my decision on which one. Thanks again folks, i knew coming to the forum would be the best place to ask.

If you are only streaming once a week then you could look at dropping down to an R5 1600. It might not be worth the extra £90 for the R7 1700 if you are not streaming 5+ days a week. You might need to lower some stream settings but otherwise it would be fine.

Also if your monitor is 1080p then a GTX 1070 would be another area to save money. It is still capable of 1440p as well. I only put the GTX 1080 in my build as it fits with a £1500 budget.

I know that feeling . 2nd one has popped in-laws just got all my trade accounts for parts and contacts with companies and made some good friends then had to stop - know only focus on certain build .
Got asked to do YouTube vids and realised I have no spare time haha

What do you have right now?

AMD Bulldozer FX-6 Six Core 6200 Black Edition 3.80Ghz

Asus Sabertooth 990FX AMD 990FX DDR3 Motherboard

MSI HD 7870 Black Knight OC 2048MB GDDR5 Graphics Card

Patriot Viper "Black Mamba" Generation 3 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 PC3-15000C9 1866MHz

That is my rough setup at the moment, a few years old now, and definitely starting to show it's age.

I thoroughly enjoy streaming, and have met some incredible people along the wa and made some good friends also. I'm hoping when the little one gets a bit older i'll be able to stream a little more often, but time will tell. Maybe the Mrs would want another one! ahaha. But shall see what the future holds for us.

Get in as much gaming as you can.
With that current core you'll see a massive upgrade even at Ryzen 5 1600.. enough enough there's loads of YouTube videos of comparison of FX cores verse Ryzen .... It's worth it . Seems Ryzen was able to keep FX owners with AMD and then some more winning over Intel owners :)
