So... I feel like maybe I am going a little insane, or maybe this motherboard really is just a waste of money.

Where are the options in the BIOS to do things like disable Bankgroup swap etc?

I tried out Stilt's Ryzen Memory checker and I apparently have BGS and GDM both enabled.... d'oh.

I can see no options in the bios for messing around with these settings, for what was meant to be a pretty nice board. I never saw any mention of these options missing etc.

Going to go back and try some older bioses..I do NOT want gear down mode turned on when my memory is already specced for 1T.

The says and a stock do seem to have the best boards for ryzen, however even the crosshair isn't without it's quirks

I've got same board, latest BIOS, options are there:

[F7] for expert mode
OC - Advanced DRAM Config - misc item (might have to scroll down for it)

Theres 4 settings under that tab, including the Bankgroup swap.

Si

Latest Bios v1.8 ?

I love you, and I don't even know you :D I hadn't updated deliberately because that bios only brought a fix for linux and more memory compatibility lol.

Will get it updated later.

I am really hoping this will help in my single thread speed (because I'm weird lol). And well... Dual Rank RAM @ 3200 is faster than my SR RAM right now lol.

Took a screenshot, hope it works as you want it to mate - if so - happy to help ;)

Updated to latest bios (1.8). Previously, I only had the options to change the core timings as shown at the top with the command rate and ProcODT. Literally.. that was all I had.

Now, all these options are showing :) W00T!

Took me 15 minutes to get back to 3200Mhz though, had to configure it manually for some reason rather than XMP profile 2.

Ran Cinebench R15... was disappointed I got the same scores with GDM=OFF, BGS=OFF, BGSAlt=OFF.

Will have to try and either up my frequency, or drop my timings from C16-18-18-18-36 1T

Thank you very much btw DoggyX. I had written off trying the new bios. (Silly me!)

EDIT: All kinds of weirdness going on with this BIOS btw. Won't apply overclocks. lots of failed memory boots. Lower scores. Applies 1.5V's to the core at times when I check CPU-z!

Hey Scougar, isn't bios 1.9 the latest version? >> https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/B350-TOMAHAWK.html#down-bios

Beta bios, not sure if you have seen them. V1.91 listed as latest >> https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=283344.0
That is so weird. I literally downloaded it from msi website last night and the highest version available was 1.8... don't know what to say about that lol. Thanks. I will look again....

I was using the beta bioses as well up to v1.72 before trying release 1.8.

Settings are not doing what I ask them to with this 1.8 bios and performance is degraded for some reason.

Edit: Putting on release v1.9 now, but won't be able to have a play with it until tonight probably.

Looking forward to your results as running v1.7 atm.

Been running v1.9 for last few days, was same for me as when I looked 1.8 was latest, had no issues with my CPU clock holding. I don't play much with memory so can't answer them questions but as a bios its stable for me.

Also the options that you were originally after are still there to select at the very least.

Now I'm back on the v1.7 bios the options are there btw... so must have been something odd with it on the flash (kinda scary).

Overclocks by itself just fine. I try to add memory overclock into the mix and it craps out. Was running perfectly fine before d'oh!

I had tried a gigabyte b350 board had terrible problems with USB ports and net port
then sent that back and got a gigabyte X370 and had the same problems
so decided to try the MSI tomahawk b350 and runs perfectly, bios is 7A34v18
there was one thing that created issues if altered at all was the fan settings in the bios just leave it be.
I will not be updating my bios again unless its something that I would need as for now everything runs great

Finally back upto 3.6ghz and 3200mhz ram. Leaving it for now. Going away for two days of mag fed paintball. Gonna be freaking awesome, just what i need right now.
