Pre-made Gaming PC recommendations

I finally placed the order for the following

Gigabyte GA-AB350M-Gaming 3 AMD B350 (Socket AM4) DDR4 Micro ATX Motherboard
MB-559-GI

**B Grade** AMD Ryzen 5 Six Core 1600 3.60GHz (Socket AM4) Processor - Retail
BG-11T-AM

XFX XT Series 400W 80 Plus Bronze Power Supply
CA-021-XF

WD Blue 1TB 7200rpm SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache HDD - OEM (WD10EZEX)
HD-366-WD

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 ITX Edition 6144MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (GV-N1060IXOC-6GD)
GX-18P-GI

Team Group Night Hawk RGB 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-25600C16 3200MHz Dual Channel Kit - RGB Black (TF1D4
MY-08M-TG

Corsair Carbide Series 88R Micro-ATX Case - Black (CC-9011086-WW)
CA-212-CS

The original RAM that was suggested on here was made for an Intel chipset, so ordered the Night Hawk RAM which benefits from the AMD CPU.

I also made the error of ordering the ITX edition of the 1060! It was the cheapest Gigabyte 1060 6GB card, from the research I've done, apart from the single fan, there's no other differences.

Thanks everyone for your help! It's hopefully going to be delivered tomorrow and I'll be building it myself.

P.S. The system HDD will be coming from the old machine, and will be shopping around for the cheapest legit copy of Windows 10 Pro 64Bit to install onto it.

make sure you get pics up :D

slap thermal grizzlie on the GPU ! will help. design is wide to allow for heatpipes, my zotac 1060 mini was just a slab of aluminum :( even went as far to get a waterblock for it haha

Sure, will do :) You all can laugh at my cable management :)

slippery slope cables management - you try once, then move one cable and it all needs to be redone and then redone again haha

does your HDD have windows already installed ? might be able to upgrade it ? then reset for clean system ? might be cheaper

I did wonder about buying those coloured cables to try and have a theme, but think I'll be running before I can walk with that.

Yeah, The Dell does have a genuine copy of Windows 10 Pro on there.

I don't mind buying another license, as I'll reuse the Dell myself for something or other.

Id move the Pro over to your own build - use windows creation media tool to download your version OS as an ISO on a USB stick and then onto a genuine CD Key- there are about two sites that are actually genuine as I had to call MS to get mine activated - because someone had used another site for a CD Key... lol
but I cant list the site on here - but good luck in your search :D

Ive you do use the Pro copy to your new build- might have to register the Copy due to it being locked to your motherboard- use webchat to MS and state you had to swap motherboards and they'll reactivate it :D

too bad you got the slim vostro version as you couldve upgraded it for some better gaming without spending anywhere near £500, but anyways, i havent read through all posts, so unless anyone has put any pre-builts then here are some suggestions which will be much better than the dell its replacing..

fyi you should keep the SSD and replace the 320gb hdd with a 2tb if you build yourself or just keep the SSD regardless.

@ExoMale think OP is keeping the dell unit as another system unit - although a stealth dell unit would be a fun build

although- hasnt mentioned if swapped to self build to get better specs or gone pre-build with those items. think its now a self build :D

Yep, going to be keeping the Dell system for me to use on my workbench and in regards to the components I've ordered, I'll be building that myself :)

ah okay cool, can get more for the money building it yourself to some extent anyways, you get the best options obviously with only budget limiting and i noticed you already ordered anyways so wont post a pointless build idea lol

maybe my suggestion for the Dell be still useful? can get the i5 2300-3300 for £20-60 quid, 2x4gb ram is not too expensive, whack in an SSD and a 1030 or forget the SSD and get the 1030, for £150 or less(1030 costing the most in essence) you could give the Dell a nice big upgrade.

Thanks for your build recommendations.

Interesting thoughts about the Dell machine, I have a spare 120GB SSD which I'll put in there but it'll just have a EPROM reader connected to it and be used for storing tech docs etc.

When I was building my PC I was forever searching for a "best" cheap Windows license...two months in of using my PC and I am still using unactivated version.
Only difference is there is a water mark in the corner and I can't change wallpaper...which never bothered me to be fair.

Any issues using those cheap licences found on eBay - Apparently they're legit, selling for less than £2 in most cases... But I remember Microsoft pretty much giving this licence away when Windows 10 was released so don't find it too hard to believe they might be legit. Any thoughts?

Can't comment on that as never purchased one. My copy is downloaded directly from Microsoft, it just wasn't activated. Which as said, only limits you to few cosmetic parts, other than that, never had a problem with Windows.

Had no problems with mine.

Well all the items have arrived, looking forward to building this :)

Here's the final build, cable managed the best I can.

I just need to do a clean install of Windows 10 on the SSD, install all the drivers and apps and download the games before my lad gets it on Christmas Day!

Thanks so much for everyone's input, and helping make the right choice for the build.

Maybe it would be more fun for him to join the build?:) Unpack everything and build together haha.

Looks nice though, I remember the happy day all my equipment arrived. Good luck with it:)
