I need a new gaming PC - It's been some time!

Right, I think we are almost there

Still deciding on the case - I like Raijintek Thetis and NZXT Manta, but still need to make my mind up on one!

I've changed the SSD to a M.2 version with heatsink and changed the motherboard to a Micro ATX Gigabyte Gaming 3, good choice of motherboard?

Is the any benefit to the 960 EVO Polaris over the 850 EVO Series? Also noticed there is SM961 Series? Help!

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £1,368.68
(includes shipping: £15.90)

MANTA IS ITX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2 pci slots only!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the Gmaing 3 mATX version is just as solid as the ATX verison - which is normally quoted along with Strix ATX - i think others have said Pro4 mATX by ASrock but not sure how it is with ram

thetis is also full atx but allows you future growth with move to ATX board

might be a better shout then samsung m.2 , i do go on a lot about it for OS drive but usually use the lower 128GB in builds
but damn the 960 evo/pro makes benching so much easier for me! some of firestrike loading takes a while and with these- BOOM! almost instant

should allow some games on there. also not sure if you have any other storage drives- if not- get this for space

SM is OEM so there is no driver support- you use windows drivers , to be honest its still faster then standard SSD with windows drivers

Oops! Thanks for spotting that buddy!

I've changed the case to your earlier suggestion after looking some photos and review! :D

I've also changed the graphics card to match the motherboard and upgraded the power supply to the EVGA 650W G2

I'm happy to stick with the Samsung 250GB 960 EVO if it offers better performance over the Crucial MX300? I don't need the space because it's purely for games, no general storage required!

Here we go! Am I ready for Unreal Tournament?

looks sweet mate ! only mentioned the higher SSD because games now are taking 20-60GB - if you add 4K textures thats another 10GB on top
New COD is 25GB , so 8 games and you've hit almost your limit , plus OS on there etx etc

only thing you'll have to check as your using mATX verion of the Gaming 3 which has GPU on top slot could hit the PSU - ATX has it on the second slot.
But i've just had a look at dimentions the card is 232mm long and the motherboard is 244mm x 244mm so will sit within the board space and shouldnt come into contact with the PSU :)

get some pics up when you've got it built mate :D

built in that case for a friend :)

that card is 316mm so can see issue with longer cards with the case if PSU is larger then life- your psu should be the same size or 10mm taller

case opens its self well to watercooling :D

and if you do think, ATX might look good in the case- you do get the lighting - but not the fancy ram ones which gets blocked out when you use 4 sticks lol

Wow, your build looks really smart! Nice

Blimey. I didn't release games have got that big

I didn't actually realise it was a ATX case, I will definitely get an ATX motherboard then

Thanks for all of your help

Now I'm not sure which motherboard to choose! Do you know the difference between these 2 motherboards?

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/giga...ocket-am4-ddr4-atx-motherboard-mb-557-gi.html

Is it worth spending more on the Asus ROG Strix?

pcik the Gaming 3 over the gaming, for sure - specially when the price is the same as Strix when it isn't on sale!
Strix is another board others and myself on occasions have recommended - believe someone has commented that VRM heatsink design as poor on theirs and got hot so they replaced it .
Strix bios is a lot slicker going for it , and can handle some ram kits to 3333hz. doesnt make much difference in gaming from 3000hz but rendering it does slightly and other tasks based around that . And it is a lovely looking board.
Gigabyte has a UK RMA center for GPU and Mobo, being the only manufacture to have both in UK, rest are GPU - and have Rep(s) on hand for issues , but OCUK have excellent RMA procedures . Rep tends to deal with parts not bought from OCUK lol- the irony

Gaming 3 has better onboard audio then strix does if that helps

https://www.asus.com/uk/Motherboards/ROG-STRIX-B350-F-GAMING/

both have active forums were you can find them hard at work on beta bios's to :D
