hey guys my trusty galaxy tab pro 10.1 is on it's way out and im looking for an upgrade.

seems spec wise i cannot get a tablet with the same power a few years later for the same money i paid for this one (200 quid) looks like the galaxy tab A would be a downgrade :(

im willing to go up to 300 at max.

im thinking of the lenovo tab 4 10.1 plus after comparing tons of specs and looking about last night.

help computer people, i will offer virtual pies for your mighty wisdom and android only please :)

all help appreciated :)

aww no one replied to advise me :(

i was about to bite the bullet on the 10 incher i mentioned and noticed they ended the deal went up 50 quid, so i i just ordered the 8 inch tab 4 plus for 200 before that deal jumped up 50 as well, guess ill adapt well to an 8 inch screen as im used to my note 4 when out and im always next to a charger on tablets so the smaller battery shouldn't be a problem but it has same cpu and ram as the 10 incher, same res and more dpi :)

I've been looking around too and the options seem to be the Lenovo Tab 4 Plus that you mentioned and also a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 for a little more.

kool im glad i picked up the tab 4 plus and im getting more used to the 8 inch screen, i was gonna get the 10 inch one but the price jacked back up to 300 quid from 250 so i grabbed the 8 inch one while it was still 200 and down from 250.

first impressions are very minimal stuff installed out the box and more or less stock android 7.1 compared to samsung ones and it is running so slick and smooth compared to my galaxy tab pro, all 8 cores run at same speed instead of my galaxy tab pro that had 4 slow ones and 4 faster ones plus it has an extra gig of ram and can take up to a 256 gig mem stick while my galaxy was stuck on a 64 one, got a 128 gig one in at moment :)

im impressed with it im finding it to be a slick wee tablet, web sites my galaxy pro had slight hiccups stutter on are so fast and fluid on the tab 4 and it runs colin mcrae decent :)

theres 2 versions of the tab s2 btw they quietly upgraded its cpu etc :)

edit, loving the glass back it feels a lot more premium than my galaxy pro ever did as well, oh and im loving the front facing speakers :)

charges pretty fast and the battery lasts longer than i expected :)

Glad you like it. I currently have a Samsung Galaxy Pro 10.1 and a Nexus 7 and can't decide on an 8" or 10" to replace them. I love the portability of the smaller device and holding it in one hand, but a bigger screen is always nice.

hehe aye takes a bit getting used to and im actually rotating it on some sites but on the 10.1 pro half the sides on some sites had extra ads down the side which don't appear on the 8 inch tab 4 and i had my pro rooted with ad block lol

i get what you mean holding it in one hand is awesome :)

all in all i would recommend one of them as a tab pro upgrade, im loving it cept for the smaller screen, snappy wee bugger it is and i don't notice a difference in screen quality tbh between the 2 :)

Yes, I have noticed this. There are no upgrades on my galaxy tab s.
There are apple ones but I am not an apple fan at all.
Tablets on the way out? Seems strange though.

I use my Nexus 7 more than my Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 because it's so easy to carry around the house whenever I move rooms. I tend to browse websites in portrait mode with one hand and then rotate it for other stuff.

Upgrade? Samsung Tab S3 9.7 or Pixel C despite it's age would be fine.

However for £300 you will struggle to find anything worth calling an upgrade unless it's used, check auction sites or used sections in shops like John Lewis.

Maybe a Galaxy Tab S2 9.7? I'm sure you can get them for around £300, maybe a little over.

hehe already got the lenovo one a few posts up :)

Not bad, not a brand I would recommend at that price but I'm sure it will serve you well. :)

heya im just drunk and curious, why is it not a brand that you would recommend? the security patch level for android is the same as my galaxy note 4 august this year.

finding it much snappier than the 10.1 pro and a bit more snappy than my note 4 which i found to be snappy and got a nice case for 8 quid earlier lol

note 4 is snapdragon 805 quad and this thing is snapdragon 625 octa :)

my samsung s3 is still on jelly bean and im scared to look at its security patch level lol

No stand out features, I'd pay extra just for the higher resolution AMOLED display on the Tab 2, that's the only thing I wish my Pixel C had, guess we can't have it all, at least not yet.

The Galaxy S3 is accent by today's standards, they probably stopped updating that years ago.

I've found myself looking at the Yoga Tab 4 Plus now too, as well as the Yoga 3 Plus that has a much larger battery on board. I just wish these things had an AMOLED screen.

My Samsung Galaxy Tab S8.4 is kicking around fine so far and has an amazing hires amoled screen, but the gpu is quite slow and can be frustrating sometimes whilst dealing with high res images on Google Photos for instance.

The opinions on here are greatly appreciated because I just ordered the Tab 4 Plus at JL for £250.

hope you like it, im guessing thats the 10 inch one? (was gonna grab one at that price but when i had funds the price jumped back up so went with the 8 incher) i have never ran out of battery on the 8 inch one and i frequently watch hours and hours of you tube vids plus it charges pretty fast, never tried google photos on it :)

had several android updates in a row when i first got it about 3 or 4 lol

Yeah it's the 10" version. I've been on an 8" tablet for a while so figured it would be nice to go back to full size again. It arrives today whilst I'm at work so I'm looking forward to having a play. I'm hoping that IPS display with its dot pitch isn't as bad as I'm believing it'll be as I've been on amoled for so long.

Need to get an 8" tablet as an Xmas present for my parents so I'm hoping that price of the 8" Tab drops in time.

i got the new ipad 9.7 32gb wifi model for £339 with 2 years warranty . to be honest. its a best tablet out there for that price. i'd spend extra £40 and get the ipad.

dont let apple icon push you off.

i wanted the android tablet but a 'good' one cost over £500. i compared the ipad 9.7 and samsung s3 tablet cost £600 and ipad feels better for tablet experience.
